According to Sky Sports the Geordies all have their green tinted specs on and are hoping for O'Neill.

However, I hear Alex McLeish may be available soon.

Looking like its O'neil, more performances like yesterday and the pressure will be off to push anything through too quickly

MONs wife is seriously ill & has been for some time, thats why he left Celtic.

MON accepting any job offers will depend entirely on his wifes health.

If anyone is still interested in this, Ottmar Hitzfeld is getting a LOT of pushing from numerous Newcastle fansites online. He's currently about 20-1 on BF, but in an Evening Chronicle poll, he was 2nd favourite to O'Neill. O'Neill got about 53% of the votes and Hitzfeld got 34% without much publicity from anyone. What I'm suggesting is that it might be worthwhile backing him now, and then laying off in a couple of weeks. This isn't so much a tip, but it may be worth a flutter.

Speaking as a Newcastle fan, I'd recommend you lay off as much of O'Leary as you can. He won't get the job, there are already mutterings at Villa about his position there, (In a recent poll 22% of Villa fans said they'd physically drive him to Newcastle for him to have the job, abut 60% said they'd make him walk...). Any excess laying you'd get from that I'd stick on O'Neill or Hitzfeld, they are the two the fans most want, and Shepherd is under a lot pressure to produce the goods after the Souness debacle.

Oops, just seen O'Bleary at 100-1 on BF. Not worth it.

also there is no value on MON at present with him being at 4.0
i think he is more likely to take the england job

hitzfield doesnt seem intrested and has been on slide for days if he goes out to 25 i might put some on

Newell has dropped to from 100-1 to between 40-1 and 60-1 in the last few minutes, he goes much lower and I'll start laying.
