RIP the great Greg Lake.

I was fortunate to see him twice in the 70's. First with King Crimson at the Victoria Hall, then with ELP at Trentham Gardens.

2016 has been a brutal year.

2016 has been a brutal year.

it has been but its inevitable. 2017 will be similar

more of the first generation of celebrities (50s/60s especially pop and rock music) reaching mortailty and more generally more fields in which there are public figures in the modern media era

Yup

Imagine what life will be like in 50 years when all the niche internet celebrities start popping off. Everyone is famous to 15 people these days.

Though one particular 60s rock music star still shows no signs of settling into old age.

the Stones got a new blues album out i think

A A Gill has died after a short battle with, to use his description, "a full English of cancers".

As gifted a linguist as Will Self, as insightful an analyst as Gary Neville and as unapoligetically honest as Aunt Ada's flatulence during Christmas dinner.

I have only come to appreciate his work over the last few years. He wasn't a panel show regular or a political heavyweight. No novelist or poet. Not even a presenter or pundit. He was a truly brilliant writer.

We are genuinely blessed that he has allowed us to keep his work.

Walter Swinburn a real shock - obviously most remembered for riding the ill-fated Shergar to Derby victory.

Surprised he didn't get into tv after he retired.

Articulate, intelligent and good looking. Would have thought he was a natural.

Better than other jockeys who have made the jump: Turner, Fitzgerald, Gibson and Hannity surely?
