RIP

They had a small tribute to her on the Final Furlong Podcast, and Kevin Blake mentioned when  Aisling Daly fought at UFC Dublin.

She had Zombie as her walkout tune, where the camera showed that she was singing as she came out. The crowd all started singing along, and he said he's never felt such a chill.

Found it

RIP Peter Wyngarde

Who didn’t want to be Jason King in the ‘70s?

Classic obit in The Times. Bette Davis (allegedly) summoned him to her changing room and, without pausing for introductions, says "I hear you've got a big cock. Meet me here at 8:30".

For a man that had so much sex with women, it's amazing to consider that he was actually gay.

Jimmy Armfield died yesterday.

He was one of the true greats of football, from back in the day when shorts were shorts.

His name was mostly associated with Blackpool, for whim he made over 600 appearances, but he also played for  - even captained - England, too.

I can't recall him as a player, but he became a BBC Radio commentator, I certainly recall that, & his reports were always a delight. He was a genuinely decent, kind & caring man, & rarely spoke ill of anyone.

They're a very 'marmite' band, but Mark E Smith of The Fall has died, which is not entirely surprised as he's looked in poor health for about the last 20 years.

Not a band I ever really got into, but one of my best friends is a huge fan, and practically hero-worshipped him, and is understandably devastated at the news.

Nothing marmite about this.  They have pretty much been around as long as I have been into music.

Gideon Coe has been playing loads of Fall stuff tonight on 6 music

RIP Mark E Smith

Saw this quote.

"There are two sorts of people - those who have met Mark E Smith and those who like Mark E Smith" - Billy Bragg

Guardian interview

Is it important for you to remain angry?

Yeah. People still cross the road from me; I’ve still got that. I can clear a pub when I want to. It’s a talent.

To be fair, lots of fans speak very highly of encounters with him

I suspect the same could be said of Billy Bragg

Like a few bands I introduced to my son, I'm trapped listening to 70s and 80s Fall and he has listened to just about everything, which is a lot.

Love bands like this and characters like Smith that give me common ground like that - I guess unique etc is used a lot but he was - great that people like this live on long after the last person who ever met them is pushing up daisies
