Just had a notification come through that Keith Flint from The Prodigy has been found dead at home this morning, aged 49.

The Fat of the Land was an iconic album from the 1990's, and he was a typical 'wild' frontman, but it's still a shock to see this pop up.

No further details as to cause from what I can see.

Devastated! Loved their music growing up, ever since seeing No Good on MTV. Ive seen them live three times, probably the best one was Brighton where Dizzee Rascal supported.

Consistently changed their sound and came out with new, great, tracks.

liam howlett is a don.

he released a series of mixes called the dirtchamber mixes way back when.

fuses all sorts of jazz, hip hop, dub and rock with all the techno / d n b stuff you associate with the prodigy.

their tracks are built from samples of soul, funk, hip hop etc

they were around before dance had developed niches to fit into.

a big part of why they have been able to release good stuff across the decades and why their stuff was so interesting

RIP Kieth.

I remember getting this tune on a white label and dropping it in a club I was DJing at the time.

The place went mental! Think it was 1990.

Kieth was a dancer for the The Prodigy but became the front man later on, they were pioneers of the music scene and still managed to keep there music sounding fresh throughout the years.

Will be sadly missed.

A posthumous notification for David Austin who left us on December 18th 2018. It was mentioned on Gardeners World and I didn't know he had died, but he deserves a mention here for the legacy left behind.

He breathed life into the failing English rose and became one of the world’s leading rose breeders. His English Roses — there are 230 varieties to date — are considered the benchmark for modern roses. His company’s seedlings and flowers are sold around the world. His roses have brought him 24 gold medals at the prestigious Chelsea Flower Show in London and the Order of the British Empire in 2007 for services to horticulture.

He famously said that the easiest way to kill a rose was to give it a bad name and that a rose without a fragrance, he would say, was only half a rose.

He knew, through his nose, that old roses like albas, gallicas and damasks had appealing, heady aromas that he wanted to perpetuate by crossing them with hybrid teas which although he was not a fan of, he knew that their best attributes would alter the future of the old English roses, and so he did. He painstakingly brought new roses to life a process which takes 9 years from pollination to market.

I haven't been in a garden centre yet that didn't have a David Austin rose for sale.

His daughter Claire is a leading expert on perennials, irises and peonies.

A belated RIP David.

Scott Walker, one of the Walker Brothers. He was, surprisingly, 76. Where did all those years go?

I never particularly enjoyed their music, & The Sun Ain't Gonna Shine Anymore and Make It Easy On Yourself were two tracks that were absolutely unforgettable, & very much part of what I recall from the 1960's.

And as soon as you see that it's not your name that's been posted you decide to get out of bed.
