RIP Carl Reiner, aged 98.

Probably recognisable to many as Saul in the Ocean's 11 series with George Clooney and co, but his collaborations with Steve Martin produced some of the funniest films I've seen.  How's this for a portfolio?

The Jerk
Dead Men Don't Wear Plaid (genius use of old film footage to make a standalone story)
The Man With Two Brains
All Of Me

Good friends with Mel Brookes, another legend, and his son, Rob, was responsible for This Is Spinal Tap.

Not a bad CV to leave behind, IMO.

He joins his wife Estelle, famously cast by their son Rob as the customer in the restaurant in the film When Harry Met Sally who declared "I'll have what she's having" in the fake orgasm sketch in Katz's Delicatesseen.

RIP Carl Reiner.

Another musical genius leaves the building.

RIP Ennio Morricone aged 91 who died in hospital after fractured his femur in a fall.

I love a lot of his film scores, but Deborah's theme from Once Upon A Time In America I think is particularly beautiful.

fleetwood mac were a very different band with green.

he had a very identifiable guitar tone.

indeed his guitar was passed from player to player after he sold it and it was well known as greens les paul, it was a sort of legendary guitar

and it was discovered he had modded the pick ups so he could set them out of phase and generate a evocative scooped sound, very sweet.

one of this countries finest blues players.

As Mint Trav has mentioned in the Next President of the US thread the iconic Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsberg has passed aged 87.

Her death is so significant with the election not so far away and in the days before her death she wished that she would not be replaced before the new president was installed, whether or not that happens we will have to see but if not the implications could be far reaching.

She had survived 4 bouts of cancer, sadly this 5th episode had her beat.

RIP The Notorious RBG. To say you will be sorely missed by so many is surely an understatement.
