Bassist Herbie Flowers has passed aged 86.
With too many credits to list without being tldr, in 1972, he played on Lou Reed’s pioneering Transformer album, giving the single Walk On The Wild Side its recognisable twinned bassline twang.

I bought Transformer on vinyl back then and on CD since. Have it on my Spotify now too. Fair to say it's a favourite of mine.
RIP Herbie

Alastair Down has left us;

Something in here I was unaware of, but a great obituary.
RIP to both him and his daughter.

RIP Peter Sinfeld aged 80. King Crimson's original Lyricist, Lighting Director, Sound Guy and occasional VCS3 player/manipulator
Sinfield went on to produce Roxy Music’s debut album, including its iconic glam single Virginia Plain, he was called on by Greg Lake to provide lyrics for Emerson, Lake & Palmer, and he wrote Lake’s UK No 2 festive hit I Believe in Father Christmas. He also worked with Procol Harum’s Gary Brooker, going on to partner with songwriter Andy Hill and wrote lyrics for mainstream pop music that was almost diametrically opposed to the fantastical prog of King Crimson: contributing to four albums by Bucks Fizz - The Land of Make Believe is one of theirs and writing songs for Five Star, Leo Sayer, Abba’s Agnetha Fältskog and more. One of his songs for Bucks Fizz, Heart of Stone, became a minor hit for Cher in 1990.
He had his biggest hit of all in 1994, writing lyrics for the Hill-composed Think Twice, recorded by Céline Dion.

R.I.P. Johnnie Walker Legendary disc jockey, broadcaster and Pirate aged 79 from pulmonary fibrosis on New Years Eve.
His wife Tiggy made a great post on I think Twitter which was copied in many places:
Sharing a photo of a champagne bottle, she asked what does a new widow do on NYE? She listens to @BBCRadio2, opens a bottle and toasts her amazing husband. Courageous, wise, strong, creative and never dull. They didn’t call him the Pirate for nothing. Above all - the most devoted loving husband. Pls raise a 🥂to Johnnie Walker.
He remained his charming, humorous self to the end, what a strong amazing man. It has been a rollercoaster ride from start to finish, and if I may say – what a day to go. He’ll be celebrating New Year’s Eve with a stash of great musicians in heaven. One year on from his last live show. God bless that extraordinary husband of mine who is now in a place of peace.
I am of the age where you had a tinny little radio under the bedclothes at night trying to find Radio Caroline and then trying to keep it in tune and one of the first voices I heard was Johnnie's. He was always my favourite, Through him I found Procal Harum, The Small Faces, Steely Dan, Genesis, Clifford T Ward and so many more.
I owe him so much for that. I owe him so much more for being grounded more times than I can remember, the worst being 6 months but boy I'm so glad I did it. My poor mum.
R.I.P Johnnie. I for one will never ever forget you.
