I didnt open anything knowingly, it managed to get through AVG/McAfee and the microsoft antispyware.

I have got rid of it now, but beware!

If it does happen click start>run then type "shutdown -a" that will stop the shutdown, then go to google to find a fix, or find the thing with ur anti virus and delete it, now you have the time.

Sounds like you have a little problem there!

Trojan: Trojansare programs that do things that aren't described in their specifications. The user runs what they think is a legitimate program, allowing it to carry out hidden, often harmful, functions. Trojan horses are sometimes used as a means of infecting a user with a computer virus. Backdoor Trojans are programs that allow other computer users to take control of your PC over the internet.

Adware is unwanted software, that has been placed in your system without your knowledge, sometimes harmless, but can be malicious (malware) ad-aware by Lavasoft is a very usefull tools for removal, and Mircosofts Antispyware beta is very good at stopping it getting in your system in the first place.

Recently I've had to reinstall Windows XP because of Trojans/Viruses, I became unable to play on any crypto sites or do much else. I've got rid of AVG because it didn't seem to help and I've switched to Avast! which is similar, I would recommend, however, a scan from http://housecall.trendmicro.com/ It found lots of spyware/malware in my computer and got rid of most of it. The scan is free but it WILL take around 3-4 hours to do depending on your HD size, but it's certainly worth it.

Thanks for everyones help.

My problems appear to be solved. With help from Nemesis who kindly helped me out with my virus problems, I was able to fix my poor sick computer. I don't know what I would have done without your help I owe you big time.

I made good use of the sites that Ginger sent me as well. Atleast I understand the problem alittle better now.

This morning everything was ok, One problem led to another which led to another.

I was really panicking. I thought to myself  " ohh god....how am I expected to win the blonde tournament tommorow on Stars with a broken computer"  :-)

Good Luck everyone tommorow.

I was just wondering. Do all pokersites have add-ons which connect theirselves to your computer when playing add their particular site.

I don't know if this was just me. But I had three addware files from Party yesterday which I had to get rid of.

Thanks.
