Former Dolphins’ DT Ndamukong Suh reached agreement with Los Angeles Rams on a one-year, $14 million deal, per source. Suh took less to go to LA.

Suh and Aaron Donald now manning LA’s front.

So who gets the double team?!
Interesting to see if teams go no huddle to keep 2 three techniques on the field every down.Looks like plenty of halfback screens and quick releases  to slow down these two.Should be fun to watch Donald is an amazing player.

The new rule change regarding lowering the head sounds like a potential recipe for disaster next season, especially as it could lead to player ejections if deemed 'flagrant'.

Based on wording alone, it's going to encompass all sorts of regular plays, so will hopefully be subject to a great deal of clarification.

Looks like cheerio to the cut block then.

If you're cut blocking and leading with the crown of your helmet, you're doing it wrong - Even from halfback where you see them 'attack' the line of scrimmage as QB drops back to pick up a free blitzer, you don't (or shouldn't) use your head in the block at all. Shoulder between knee and hip height, head outside, roll through so that your weight takes them to the ground and stay high enough that they can't just step over you to make you miss the block and have a free run at the QB.

I reckon they'll make the QB sneak exempt from this, or just turn a blind eye to it, because they kinda have to. It's hard to get the same forces in a collision at the line of scrimmage when the MLB/DT and QB are 2-3 yards apart pre-snap just because of not accelerating to full speed. If they start throwing flags on 4th & 1 against either a diving QB or a linebacker making a hit, it's going to become a problem for the league's popularity real fast, especially as they'll be inconsistent calls because QB sneaks naturally end up being a complete mess and the side judges' views will be blocked by guards and tackles.

The 'Flagrant' line has been in the NFL rulebook for ages in regards to unsportsmanlike conduct, personal fouls etc, but Odell Beckham stayed in the game with Josh Norman a couple of years back and Gronkowski's hit on Tre'Davious White didn't get an ejection either, even though both were flagged ingame and were about as flagrant as you can get. The refs are super reluctant to eject anyone and I don't see that changing except in cases where a helmet hit starts a fight or something.

To me, it reads more like a half arsed effort at rewriting the targeting rule and not using the word "targeting", and I doubt they enforce it most of the time because it's been so unpopular at college level with fans. If there's more than one or two extra ejections as a result of this rule next season, I'll be surprised.

Is the NFL ready to embrace gambling properly?

Also, a round up of news and gossip.

Shakeem Griffin has been invited to attend the NFL Draft.

You can get a big price on him going in the first round with Paddy or BFSB, if that appeals.

I'm still very much of the view he goes on Friday late round 2 or roumd 3. But his stock has been rising.

Safety Andy Smigiera.

A top level explosive athlete who's clearly got something between the ears.

Not expected to be drafted.

NFL GMs believe Giants are angling for trade down from No. 2 and Bills could make two trades up to get there

The Giants seem to be making enough noise to suggest they are unlikely to be staying at 2. If it were any other team, you'd say they'd be trading down one spot, but I can see no way that the two NY teams would trade. Imagine if Rosen turns out to be Peyton Manning and the Giants handed him on a plate to their bitter rivals.

There's been some talk about Bradley Chubb not being as good as Myles Garrett as an edge rusher, albeit being very good in many other facets of the game. Does he slide down? Well, it's quite possible he's there at 5, after 3 QBs and Barkley, and I would not be surprised at all if Indy were able to take him at 6. Leonard Williams went around there a couple of years ago and that smacked of value then.

Conversely, as I posted the other day, the Giants could try to trade up to 1, if they think that Darnold is significantly preferable to Rosen and Allen. Would the Browns trade down? It'd have to be a king's ransom, you'd think.

Mason Rudolph has been sliding down rankings, as has Marcus Davenport. The wide receiver class is poor at the top end, so I can really see there being just Calvin Ridley being taken (to the Ravens) in the first round. The tight ends seem to be poor at blocking, with Goedert and Hurst the best of them.

The Bills have so many needs - and there is such an opportunity in the middle of the first round this year because of 4 QBs going early - that I would be taking Lamar Jackson at 12 and then another player at 22. We would have to be near certain of Rosen (whose political views might not sit well with the upstate New York crowd), Allen (accuracy issues) or Mayfield (attitude issues) to give away what will be a grotesque amount of capital. The Jets trade has scuppered us. We should stay put.
