Rapsheet reported a convo from the Bears locker room on Friday when the coaches asked the players to huddle around for some important news.

The Raiders are leaving for Las Vegas in the near future. The road out of Oakland includes a toll. The NFL charged the Silver and Black a $385 million relocation fee to move away from California.

That sum must be paid over a 10-year period starting when the Raiders formally move, but crucially is held in escrow

its about 2 years of salary cap, they have a $100m contract coach and then stadium build costs..this for one of the "poorer" (its all relative) ownerships

so paying Mack what he got from the Bears was a cash flow issue

The whole $385 milly has to be held in escrow, or just $38.5 milly per year?

In the context of NFL spending, & the new stadium costs (though I believe they only pay a part of the Stadium build costs, some comes from the city of Las Vegas itself?) it does not seem an onerous amount to me, though if it impacts salary cap, of which I know zilch, I guess it's maybe meaningful.

yes Vegas has paid for a slug of the build (tourism to the casinos and city up, huge benefits from it having the NFL in an environment of liberalising gambling legislation)

the $385m is paid up front

salary cap about $170m and league revenues to teams per annum are about $243m each

so it is an amount that is impinging on ability to pay star player second contracts/roster construction, for now

Croydon's Efe Obada makes the Panthers 53 man roster.

Whilst there are practice squad deals and so on, making the 53 is a genuine achievement.

I love this, and I particularly love the responses from angry Americans who go and buy Nike products so they can post pictures of they angrily cutting them up, or as one amazing specimen of mankind did, set fire to his trainers. While wearing them... and ending up in Hospital. God Bless America

How do you see Cincy doing this year Cavey?

O line and receiving options look much improved on paper.

It’s probably because it’s getting so close to kick off now but I’m a lot more positive over Seattle this season than I was when they were dismantling the D early in the off season. If the pre season showings hold up into the season the O line looks better and Wilson has even been saying how he’s noticed the added time he has had in the pocket. It looks like we are going to open up the O and trust Wilson to be the game winner instead of the D.

Feels like the change of mentality from a defensively strong backbone to the team to an attacking offense might have been over looked.

Think it shows the state the US is in when this guy is derided for the stance he has taken when all he has done is for the good of others.

I have a kind of 'fire me up' playlist set up on Youtube when I'm about to do a long shift and this is on it. Its spooky to see how this 'hear what you want to hear' campaign advert from 3-4 years ago has come to mean even more now. Lyrically its spooky given how things have turned out.

I had a look last night, but only for a couple minutes after it was announced, and Twitter was in meltdown, as per usual.

That is very spooky, and what a tune!
