Damn - I really liked him a lot. Fun to be around and always lit up the room. Very sad to hear. He would never believe me that I was from West Brom as I don't have the accent so much any more.

RIP Marty.

Such an amazing presence in a room, he could hold court with the best of them. I worked a few events with him as a journalist/blogger and it was always a joy.

To those of us who remember the TV events from the 'golden era' of 2005-2009 ish, on all the made for TV UK poker shows there was invariably a qualifier from Bridgnorth. What that meant was, they'd won a satellite that Mad Marty had hosted at a pub in Shropshire!

Very sad to learn of this news . He was always the life and soul of the party.
