Main Event

The Main event starts tomorrow, so today is the only day off of the two trips.

Which leads to the painful question, what is there to do in a random German town just next to the Czech border on a Thursday afternoon?

Isn't Germany full of Christmas markets, bierkellers and oompah bands?  If not, is their a bigger town nearby?   Probably best to go easy on the beer tho.  Are taxis and buses still working or are they all Covid barred?

Make a few quid challenging locals to a drinking competition like you did in Bolton a decade ago with the plastic Smirnoff Ice bottles!   Cheesy

Yes, this is the opposite of the days when  the Walsall £20 rebuy would end in a deal at 4:35am

10,300 EUR Main Event

Table looks good, as hoped.

The fields overall have been strange. Average age much higher than usual (aided by my presence, obviously)

From a British point of view, it would seem that almost no one has made it across. Which is not completely surprising given Covid, but the extent of it still a little surprising. And i think the smaller amount of regs holds true for most countries.

Seat 9 at the start said to everyone "good luck, but most of all, have fun," which seems like wise advice.

100k start, start at 100-300(300), 7 90 minute levels, for quite a long day

10350 EUR Main event

(think at the moment it feels completely safe to share hands)

Hands are playing strangely. This actually feels alot like the Vegas Main Event. Already some discussion on surviving til day 2 (just 10h 15 minutes to go!), and so on

Raise 7c6c cutoff at 300BB. Small blind calls. Really feels like he doesn't want to be in this hand. This could mean alot of things (and ultimately i think may well mean he had Kings)

. Slow check. I bet 700 into 1,700, call

. Slow check. I bet 1,700 into 3,100

Hes acting bizarrely, and after a long tank, actually min raises to 3,400

Potentially I'm meant to do something mad here, I'm not sure. I think at this point, this is sometimes a set, but also could be a bizarre way to play a hand like Jacks.

I ultimately decide to call. If i hit, especially the 5, i guess o can attempt the 10x pot over bet all in, so there is definitely strong value in playing passively.

We miss the river,

He seems more comfortable, and bets 6,600, which actually leads me to believe it may well have been Kings

These are the 'full info updates that I love, although I completely understand why sometimes this is not possible.

Good luck Stu.

Couple of changes, feels like the table has changed a little. Two good player who look like they are going to throw chips around. Luckily, they're in the right position - the two seats to my right.

Actually an interesting change in the table. It feels like, now 3 players simultaneously realised that it was a passive table, and worth trying to run over. Which has ironically result in them trying too hard (we've just seen a cold four with 77), and making it very much not a passive table.

101k, approaching first break

An interesting side note : the guy to my left who started off saying "most of all have fun," and other recreational banter, actually turns out to be quite the shark, and is having his picture taken. I think the fake "oh we're all just here to have fun, and try to make day two" can very much be a thing.

We've somehow gone from a seemingly passive table to now almost every pot being at least 3bet.

I've so far been fairly quiet
