i willleave you with one thought

the tragedy of all this, unless you are a tory,is that a labour leader who was morepopular with the mainstream, would be winning this election?*

Discuss

(* would win a lot of floating voters in marginals, popular policies but possibly the maifesto wouldn't be so radical, May not a campaigner, dreadful campaign.bigger gains from this group than losing corbyn cult voters to no voting again)

and watching marr this struck me

We're about to have a national debate over end to end encryption and most politicians/journalists/public don't know what it is.

this certainly applied to caroline lucas, diane abbott and amber rudd!

True on the face of things, but without Corbyn the election would never have been called in the first place, as an effective opposition for the last two years would not have given them the huge poll leads which triggered the election.

As a sideline on this train of thought, do you think Labour would win this election if it was being fought with the 2015 Milliband-led party and manifesto?

The tories did a very expensive viral d yesterday

over 1m views on facebook in 1 day and probably the hardest hitting uk campaign add i have seen (nothing on the US ones of course)

and now i can't find it on you tube to link it!

edit its here https://order-order.com/2017/05/27/corbyn-ira-attack-ad-hits-1-million-views/

Must confess, before the election, I was bored of all this. I live in a Tory castle of a constituency, and won't be voting, but how the hell can anyone vote for this guy ffs.

Lord Ashcroft's model for Sheffield Hallam under three turnout scenario's are interesting. All three have Clegg losing:

labour 7/2 2nd favourites in current betting....

In 2015 Labour threw the kitchen sink at Sheffield Hallam. They are a lot less vocal this time around (I live in that constituency).

There was lots of tactical voting to keep Labour out, basically Tories voting for Clegg.

The Tory candidate has no realistic chance and I think tactical voting will continue - Clegg will retain his seat IMO.

stop asking me questions ;-)

the miliband manifesto has been adopted in parts by May

so lets assume it would have to be a bit left of that

possibly not with Ed but with David Miliband absolutely, best leader they should have/never have but the unions stopped it. Or maybe a Jarvis/Starmer/Cooper type. competent and able to be seen as such by middle england yes.

in fact i think we might have been in hung parliament territory again but certainly not 8% behind

The three lies that Jeremy Corbyn told Andrew Neil last night, by Stephen Daisley:

https://blogs.spectator.co.uk/2017/05/the-three-lies-that-jeremy-corbyn-told-andrew-neil/

Any piece that relies on a quote from Sean O’Callaghan to make a point is doomed to failure.

Even yesterday the vast majority of people you listed he had met with were elcted representatives.

I have attended many events over the years in support of the Iris struggle for self determination, at many of those Corbyn has spoken and he has never shown any support for a military operation.  He always talked up peace and bringing the brits to the negotiating table.

The IRA were no more terrorists than the British Government.

I don't see how folk can look at Britans foreign policy and think that it's been successful and don't see the corrolation between ongoing attacks in the middle east attacks on home soil.

Maybe Corbyn doesn't have all the answers but I'm pretty sure he'd provide a more effective solution.

Why?

Bloody Sunday
Loughall
Gibraltar
Dublin & Monaghan Bombings
Arming the UVF
The running of double agents and letting hundreds die for the "greater good"
Internment without trial
The MRF
FRU

But again, "our" boys were only doing their job right?

The orders came from the top.

An absolute life from wee Ruthis on Sunday Politics stating you get the same CHB for your 10th kid as you do for your first.

If that was Dianne Abbot there would have been melt down.  Can she be fit to lead the tories in Scotland when she doesn't even know the basics?
