6- It is easily accessible to evryone from all over england (apart from the very extremities). The bay joining right onto the M4.

When the proclaimers speak of walking 500 miles, and then walking 500 more, they were being figurative.

1-  We really do need it if we are to host events for the 2012 london olympics. The funding would be crucial.

I don't understand this

2- The bay would be perfectly situated for it. A short hop from numerous hotels and amenities.

Compared to the hotels and amenities in london?

3- There is a huge amount of unemployment in the area and i believe the council stated that it would create around      1500 out of 5000 jobs that the whole sports village would create. Generating over 265 million a year in to the local community

So it should just go there because Cardiff can't create enough jobs.....

4- Awarding it to Cardiff would also help the UK and Wales host the Ryder Cup at Newport in 2010

How does a casino help host a golf tournament?

5- I have to be honest that although the APAT event will be there, the cardiff Grosvenor is not the best run casino. It will never, IMO, develop into a well run one and its time has come to step up or step out the way.

Again what relevance does that have!

6- It is easily accessible to evryone from all over england (apart from the very extremities). The bay joining right onto the M4.

All roads lead to london. Not to mention 5 international airports.

Seems to me you think Cardiff should get it because it would help cardiff out, bolox to that build in the best place for it. If that happens to be london or surrounding areas then go for it!

1- The profits from the casino would aid in the completion of the sports village being built more rapidly (would increase it by around 2 years)

2- Its not an immature game of i have more hotels than you, its just the fact that cardiff is more than well capable of hosting the inflow of visitors and other tourists that the casino would bring.

3- Yes! in one word!- That is exactly the point. Without development in the bay area with the sports village and casino 5000 possible jobs would not be possible.

4- links back to my reason 1 where inless money, which can only be provided by the casino, is accessed then the sports village cannot possibly be up and running in time for the 2010 ryder cup. Therefore meaning again a huge loss of possible revenue into the surrounding economy.

5- It just seems to me that wales should have a fledgling casino. For it to go to Blackpool or london, which already has some of the UK's biggest casinos residing in them, seems to me a ridiculous idea.

6- Again this can be linked back to reason 2 where its not a petty case of having more. There is an optimum amount of accessible ways to get to cardiff which would justify the casino being situated in cardiff.

I think my reasons are a little more justified and mature than "hey it would be 10 minutes from my house"!!!!

London seems like a pointless place for the supercasino, there are already tons of casinos and its not going to draw much more tourism.

I'd like to see Cardiff or Blackpool get the nod.

Anyway indeedy, not long until the announcement.

I think they will award it to a non - London venue.

London will complain and get their way.

Result 2 super-casino's rather than just the one. (but then I am just a cynic)

In a two horse race between Greenwich and Blackpool, Manchester won.

Turn up for the books, that.

If they put it in Manchester that makes sense.

The full report is here - http://www.culture.gov.uk/cap/publications/finalreportcap_300107.pdf

Reading the full reasons, it seems regeneration prospects were the main concern. Greenwich was knocked back because it is already having a lot of money and construction to improve it, and Blackpool was excluded because they'd almost put all their eggs in one basket - the only regeneration plan they had was this one casino, and it was felt that the casino on its own would not be enough to  reverse the decline in the area.

Well atleast Manchester is in the centre of the UK (somewhat) and people can easily reach it. I don't particularly care about any supercasino's..not untill I see what they plan for poker anyways.
