Green Day, after thrashing around for a good few years, seem to be the new band of the moment. Eight Nominations for the MTV Awards, seven "gongs".  Obnviously, the whole thing is rigged, but with the marketing muscle of the big record labels, & MTV on side, clearly Green Day are gonna get a lot more exposure now. No bad thing, either.

Watch 'em Tom, especially the lead singer (completely over the top) and the drummer.

What about Madness, can't be beaten with so many hits:
One Step Beyond
My Girl
House of Fun
Madness
Prince
Nightboat to Cairo and many more
Their new CD out is pretty good too.

In the most unlikely event ever (considering neither band were still together 18 months ago) I've just seen my two favourite bands, The Pixies and The Wedding Present,  playing the same stage on the same day at the Leeds Festival.  Quite a day!

A few other bands on my list:
The Strokes
The White Stripes
Kings of Leon
Pavement / Steven Malkmus
Belle & Sebastian
The Delgados
Drugstore
plus just about all the indie stuff from 1989 - 1995, although the standard dropped as it gradually became Britpop.

Best album of all time - The Stone Roses debut album without a doubt.

Album I currently can't stop listening to: 'In The Aeroplane Over The Sea' by Neutral Milk Hotel.  Someone with similar tastes to me recommended it a while back.  I had to buy it from the States as I couldn't find it over here.  Boy, was it worth it.  Bizarre, beautiful, haunting, disturbing and addictive - all at the same time!
