£300 Freezeout, 5000 chips. I was up to about 8k and my oppo was on over 14k. He is a well know lag, not a muppet lag either, a very good player.

I was in the BB with QQ, Mateyboy raises in EP to 125 on 25-50 I decided to re-raise to 500 and he called. The flop came , I fancied I was ahead but i thought a check raise or check call was the optimum move. He checked behind.

The turn came the I checked again and this time mateyboy fired in a bet of 1200, I decided to go with a raise and see if he has the King, I made it 3000 total, he flat called pretty quickly. At this point i thought he might of picked up a FD, i cant think of any hand he calls with quickly! (other than the fd)

The river came

What should i do?

Ok, i'm going to be brave, check - call because he doesn't have you on the king. If you really had the king i think you would have bet the turn.

This is a tough spot. The pot is 3400 (roughly) and you have 6300 left. I think I weak bet on the river of around 1500 would be reraised heavily and then you have an even tougher decision.  I think he is playing either a slow king (dont think so) or a pocket pair JJ or TT. I dont think he has aces as I think he would have put a small stab on the flop or not flat called the turn.

A check from you and I would expect a bet of around 2500 from him. The king either gave him the nuts (except for 55 of course) or led him to believe his two pair is good. I would hope for less then a pot sized pot after checking. And then call.

I may be wrong though Cheesy

I think you should dump your ladies, and get your chips from somewhere else... I think you are behind ...

he really doesn't look like he's checking it down. but i don't see how you can check/call here. yes the pots big but i see this as a losing play in the long run and you're gonna be left with very few chips. i might check-raise all-in. he'd lay down aces if he had them this way. and you're no further behind than before if you were on the flop on the river..

Leading out on the turn would be better I think, you get raised, you're behind, it's cheaper than the check/raise. You get called, see what he does on the river and go from there. A 2nd king on the river would still make it less likely for him to have one in his hand.
