i just don't get the spectator value of ice hockey.

As soon as someone has whacked it i spend 20 secs trying to figure out where the fecking thing has gone. The only way i know someone has scored is a forlorn net minder or a jubilant attacker.

You just can't see the puck, they should get one the size of a football, play on grass, have bigger goals and kick it with their feet.

Brilliant, sums it up perfectly Cheesy

It's allright, Canuck isn't biting.

Tank is refering to the fact that Sweden and Finland played in the finals of the last Olympics beating out Canada.

However I reuse to bite sir, I am taking the high road. ;bat;

And we will see who laughs last. 2010, Vancouver, Canada will take both mens and womens hockey again on home soil and I will be there to see it. Cannot wait. It is going to be fantastic.

If they win it on soil they're cheating (and their skates won't work).

You sound like my students at school

I told a girl today to take a seat and after the 8th time, she took my advice.  The lovely little girl grabbed a seat and proceeeded to throw it across the room.

Lovely.

My folks were teachers (retired now), when it came time for me to be thinking about a career and what I wanted to do my Dad had a nice chat with me:

"Son, whatever you want to do your Mum and I will support you and encourage you, but if you say you want to be a teacher I'm taking you out in the back garden and beating the sh*t out of you, then bringing you back in and asking you what you want to be again."

I didn't take up teaching Cheesy

lol...weird hwo that goes really. I always feel soo old when I hear about kids throwing chairs in class. I'm 32 but all we did was spit TP wads at the substitute teachers. We wouldn't even dream of throwing a chair in class. and teachers had a fairly easy life I reckon...When I came to the UK in 99 I saw a few teaching jobs people were recruiting for and I though "30k£? 60K£? (headteachers) Jesus they pay their teachers a lot of dosh in this country.

and then I found out why...you have to be nuts to be a teacher these days. Kids get away with murder and if you're a bloke people look at your funny because you work with kids (apparently a lot of male teachers are now quitting because of the countries obsession with spotting peadophiles everywhere).

Respect to everyone that does it on a daily basis..Lord knows I wouldn't move into teaching unless it was at a uni.

Nice topic Ginner, i like it.

I would have to say either the Ryder Cup or The World Series of poker.

The Ryder Cup is brilliant viewing. And in the wsop, not only the main event, i love tracking the progress of all the top players, and all the blondes.

The world cup is ok, but England are over-rated and full of players from all the top teams like Chelsea and Man Utd, teams which i dislike strongly.

Wtf is this?Huh?Huh??? I am pretty sure you just paid Chiprich a complement.

The World Cup isn't even the best tournament in football, the Champions League is far superior IMO.

I even prefer the European Championships to the WC which never lives up to the hype, the last decent one was in Mexico 86.

What is ScottishDave doing on Teacake's account?

this is such a great comment from tank. almost 3 years before sd finally went bonkers teacake's post reads exactly like one of dave's

I think some of the commentary on the BBC and ITV (especially ITV) is appalling

+1 this ruins the World Cup for me.... North Bucks County Trophy gets me excited!
