lol, some ridiculous statements mid-thread.
granted, Evra had a bad night but the whole defence is decimated, we all knew that pre-match.
brilliant gutsy performance and one couragous performance with an all red final.
If UTD go on to win this with the injuries they've suffered it'll really add to the acheivement
what about the injuries suffered by milan - maldini and gattuso are both big players for them. Surely the "biggest club in the world" have a squad big enough to cope with a few injuries ?

I'm talking generally at the close of this whole campagn, rather than specifically this match.
ofcourse it's good news for us to see maldini and gattuso go off tonight

Precisely. Until that moment you were being outplayed. It changed the match.
Great game for a neutral.

Great game of football two top sides playing different styles lead to compelling spectacle. The 2nd leg should be just as interesting (and hopefully as exciting), with man u's defence all injured they cannot possibly hope for a 0-0 so will go looking for a goal, so another open game is likely.
The injuries of Gattuso and Maldini did change this game, but a first choice man u team may well have never conceded those goals in the first place. Milan were full strength going into this game and rested (none of them played in Serie A last week), yet man u were the stronger team at the end.
Rant: I must admit i have never seen the sense in supporting european teams against English teams in europe and the current growing hatred amongst lot of people in this country to anyone but their own team its quite saddening. Maybe i just don't share anything in common with Premiership football fans anymore, the gap in football gets ever wider. End rant.

So sick, Milan got up 2-1 too early for the bet to be good. I was thinking a 75th minute counter attack.
At least my +2.5 hit, i nearly had a flutter on +4.5.
Rob S, yeah had to be, they were going to have a shocking defence. I did get a good laugh tonight, Martin won the £20 rebuy in Brighton, nice to see he has found his level.....

Great game. On another day I think Man U would have blown away Milan but with a crippled defence and Kaka in imperious form it was a great spectacle. Scholes flick was brilliant and he had a fine match. Wish the little ginger magician hadn't retired from internationals
The return leg should produce a classic match. The days where Italian clubs could effortlessly produce 0-0 and 1-0 games at home are gone and man utd have a lot of firepower.
Look forward to it. I hope the liverpool chelsea tie will live up to it. I suspect there could be a cat and mouse element to the game but hopefully mourinho and benitez will get the teams on top form and tear into each other.
Bring it on!

Man U are simply awesome this season. I am not a supporter of theirs but they do play some wonderfull stuff this year.
I reckon they can get a result in Milan and whichever english team they would meet in the final would be in a lot of trouble.
I don't like the way the Chelsea/Liverpool game has been building up. I reckon Mourinho has crossed the line with his "If I got the results Rafa has been getting I'd have been sacked" remark. That's just not on.
I reckon Liverpool has a good shot at Chelsea (who look by no means unbeatable) and hope it will be a ManU/Liverpool final....that should be a good game.

Are you serious?
Man Utd have been so lucky with injuries this season compared to Chelsea, Arsenal and to a certain extent Liverpool.
Nemesis posted a website that showed first team injuries and for the majority of the season Man Utd have had no injuries. Yes they have had it not great the last month with their defence, but NONE of their big-time attacking players have been injured - especially Ronaldo and Rooney.
Chelsea have had most of their squad out at some point this season
And my team Arsenal have spent over half a season with no Henry, Van Persie and Gallas. and at other times have had up to 10 first teamers out.
its a rediculous statement to say that it will be a bigger achiement with all the injuries they've had. Everyone has been commenting on the fact that they havent had any for most the season

Utd have rarely had two fully fit strikers for any stretch of time. Ronaldos brilliant form has produced goals that you'd expect from a centre forward.
back 4 have never settled and it's the depth of the squad that's kept the ship steady.
I'm not saying it's been an injury disaster like Arsenal for example, it's just not been plain sailing. It'll be a bigger achievement than the last treble because we had an easier time of it injury wise and we also had the top two strikers in the league that year. was it 20 odd each from Cole and Yorke?

Yes - but this time you have the best player in the world.
All i am saying is that you cannot say it will be a remarkable achievement considering their injuries as for the most part everyone has been fit, especially the group stage and last 16. Rooney has been fit the whole season. Saha even when fit has sometimes not been selected because in europe he has liked to play Giggs off the front man.

any prem/FA cup/champ league treble would be a remarkable achievement, fit squad or not.

Which is why we will all be heralding Chelsea's greatness at the end of the season.
