As a neutral I'd say it's now more important for England that Sturridge stays fit than Rooney. Partly due to form and partly due to their being more adequate replacements for Rooney's role than Sturridge's in the national team. Agree or disagree?

I would disagree, I think Rooney is better than Sturridge, and Rooney would be a bigger miss.

Who else do you see playing Rooney's role ? As in star man, best player, in no10 role.

Hate Rooney, but he's world class.

Love Sturridge, and on current form he needs to be available for Woy.  The way they play, they both need to be in the team imo.

I'm not sure anyone can replace Rooney as star man/best player, but let's say he gets injured and is ruled out of the WC. I think England would adapt and either play 4-3-3 with two predominantly wide players either side of Sturridge. Or, if keeping it at 4-2-3-1 then there are a number of options for the number 10 role, none as good as Rooney of course, but Wilshere, Lallana, Barkley and heck even Gerrard, at a push, could play the number 10 role.

Again not saying they're a patch on Rooney but the distance between them and Rooney is, IMO < the distance between Sturridge and whoever the back up strikers in that squad will be (Defoe? Welbeck? Lambert?) and thus if Sturridge were to get injured I think it'd have a greater impact on England. Makes Walcott an even bigger loss. Of course were Sturridge to get injured Roy may play Rooney as the number 9, which is another debate entirely.

I work with an annoying Suprs fan who is convinced that Spurs will pip Liverpool to a champions league spot.  I argued that this could be the best chance of an unexpected league title, so how spurs could ever overhaul the points gap at the moment is beyond me!

Anyhow, out of interest (as I have lots of spare time now I have no job), I thought I would work on possible outcomes for the end of league for top 4 with current fixtures.

I have been pretty realistic.  I thought Champions league would take a lot out of the teams above us, but after the last round, I doubt any of the top 3 will be in, which will leave them free to concentrate on the league.

If Liverpool had a fantastic run in, they have a shot, but I'm not sure we can win 11 on the bounce which is what we will need to take it.

Well done Olympiakos for the JFT96 banner!

Speaking of, for those who'd like to attend the memorial.

25th anniversary this year, and the yearly service is expected to be attended very well, with it being the 25th anniversary.

Tickets for this are available FOC naturally, with a closing date i think of 31st March.

Max 4 unreserved tickets per person.

The process is very easy once you get through, (although I have to say very frustrating when no-one answers it just hangs up rather than a queue system!)

However, 2 days from phone call, the tickets arrived

Just too easy to automatically tick 3 points for a normal game and 1 point for a tough game in these situations. Especially when quite a few of the games are "6 pointers"- these will probably decide the outcome

This. This season has proved that anything can and will happen. The gap between easy 3 points and gotta work for 3 points has almost vanished.
