actually any of luke shaw, schneiderlin, lallana, rodriguez would look great for liverpool
all going to be playing for top six teams very soon, all getting better, all suit rodgers' style i think

Am i right in saying 21 goals in last 8 games to equal Chelsea's Prem record of 103 goals in a season.
Shearer and Ronaldo hold the record of most goals in a 38 game season with 31 each.

Looking overseas - Subotic of Borussia Dortmund, or the Uruguayan at Atletico Madrid, Godin.

Suarez assists will be interesting. He wins so many pens before anything else.
http://espnfc.com/stats/assists/_/league/eng.1/barclays-premier-league?cc=5739
leading with 11, gerrard 9, sturridge 7
Ultimately I feel conceding too many will stop you winning it, but nothing to stop liverpool strengthening via a world class centre half (or two) in the summer, another holding midfielder in front of them and being right there to win it next season
Who would they go for to fill this void? I suggested a few weeks back that Virgil Van Djyk of Celtic could be an excellent signing, I don't think he is world class yet but he has tremendous potential and I think he would fit right into Brendas style of play.
I think it will be difficult for Liverpool to attract a genuine world class player from one of the other leagues until they are actually winning titles/regularly back competing in Champions League.
I am assuming they will be in the champions league, would retain the front six and players would come
haven't thought about who but holding midfield and really commanding centre back leader appear to be the areas to me
The defence definitely needs to be strengthened, both at full-back and centre back. Also, at some point Gerrard is going to need to be replaced as I'm not sure he can play a whole season at the level he has been performing at recently.
The goals we've been conceding have been largely from individual errors, and the way the team's set up to focus on attack means that if there are errors then we're going to be exposed and punished. However, the philosophy also seems to be that as long as we score 1,2,3,4 or 5 more than the opposition - then all's good
Keeping hold of Suarez (and Sturridge, Sterling, etc.) is key going forward. It'd be a awful for Liverpool if he left, but with CL football I don't see him wanting to leave - even if someone like Barca or Real came in with a big offer (and it would have to be huge). He's obviously had a great season this year and he's obviously dying to play CL football (think he's only played about a dozen CL games in his career?). Which is why a top 4 (3?) finish is vital. We keep hold of Suarez, and keep playing like we are, then why wouldn't players want to come and play at Liverpool? Getting a good forward to join the club might be more difficult as they'd have to accept that they wouldn't be automatic starters, but getting some good defenders in should be easier (as long as the money is there to be spent).
With CL football, it might see Liverpool look to buy three or four very good players, rather than going down the approach of buying potential that is less expensive, but might not deliver.

Shaw would be ideal. Can see him going elsewhere though unfortunately.

Will be very interesting with Shaw. Manu looking for a LB. We'd be interested too. Who would be favourites now?
We need to strengthen in first team CBs and our squad across the board, if we are to cope with CL and a decent leagie campaign. Hopelessly exposed if not.
No point being a 1 season outfit. Time to spend amd mean it. Weve got an superb core with good edges, time to make ourselves mean something again.
NB- steer clear of the up and coming CB during the summer world cup! It never works out!

Johnson is a better right-back than Flanagan. Flanagan's a decent player, and he has lots of potential. However, we can definitely strengthen the starting XI and the squad with a new full-back. Far too light in terms of back-up in those spots.

Haven't watched Southampton much, but can't see how an 18 year old with 50 games experience is worth 25-30m, that English premium.

After the recent financials I doubt the kitty will be huge. We will certainly need to sell.

Is he 'worth' that much? Is Bale 'worth' £95M? Was Carroll worth £35M, Torres £50M, how much is Suarez worth? They're worth what someone is willing to pay for them, and it appears that left-backs are in demand at the moment across the top sides - and they have the money to spend that's going to drive up the price tag.
Can't see Liverpool spending that much on him though, which is why he'll probably go to Chelsea, or even United.

Whilst you are clearly playing as well as anyone atm. Similarly to us when we had the sweat for 4th place, I think your playing quite a bit above were you are actually at.
Looking at your 1st 11, they only player of those 11 that City would want for there 1st 11 is Suarez, Chelsea would maybe also like to have Sturridge back as he's better than any striker they have but I think they'd go elsewhere. Turn that around, at least 7 of Chelsea's 1st team yday would walk into your team, and I'm probs being kind there, City's normal 1st 11 probs all a lock to walk into your team.
Seems like a few itt think you are gtd to be back challenging for the title for the next few years, whilst I think Rodgers has done an excellent job I wouldn't agree with that.
Which is why I don't understand the happy with top 4 comments at all.
Unlike us though I don't think your in a false position completely as I think you probably are the 3rd best team in the country, but I think you are a lot further behind Chelsea and City than the table suggests and a lot closer to the others who I expect to all heavily strengthen in the Summer, Man U especially.

I don't think he is atm no.
Bale is totally different scale due to shirt sales alone, so probs yes
Carroll and Torres both obv not.
Suarez is a very big number for sure.
I think he will go to Man U.

Re centre backs,
Would really like to see Godin of Atletico join but IIRC he signed a new contract fairly recently so seems unlikely.
Of the rest , the Dortmund duo of Subotic and Hummels are probably going to be at the top of any future buy lists.

Ultimately I feel conceding too many will stop you winning it, but nothing to stop liverpool strengthening via a world class centre half (or two) in the summer, another holding midfielder in front of them and being right there to win it next season
Next season will be incredibly tough IMO.
