Liverpool old boy Albert Riera sacked after skipping a match to play in POKER tournament

http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/liverpool-old-boy-albert-riera-4720418

Ex-Liverpool winger Albert Riera has been sacked by Italian club Udinese ... after going AWOL to play poker.

The Spain international, an £8million Kop buy from Espanyol in 2008, spent two seasons at the Reds. He has also had loan spells with Manchester City and Watford.

Riera, 32, joined Udinese earlier this year after a spell with Galatasaray of Turkey.

But the Serie A club’s bosses deemed him a busted flush after he skipped their recent clash with Chievo to play in a poker tournament in Slovenia - where he won £3,000 for a second-place finish.

£3,000 for 2nd would be a good day in office for someone like me but not worth throwing away a6 figure salary for

Super Byron

Dances like a white guy

Drinks like an Irishman. (was gonna say fish but don't wanna be offensive to bad poker players Smiley )

I think the people accusing someone who has suffered a ton of racial abuse of being a racist are being a bit silly. As the most plastic liverpool fan ever I do hope he gets banned for 5 games tho

Why does he put himself in that position in the first place?

Why does he put himself in that position in the first place?

Because he's a child.

Storm in a teacup anyway, people are taking offence where none was intended.

Yes I agree with this however with his history you'd think he would just stay off social media and try and score some goals. Div

Not likely that either of those will happen in the current set up. Boredom will set in frequently while he's benched or just not getting the service he thinks he deserves.

Not one shot on target in the first half. At home.  Nowhere near good enough.

Again no intensity. A million miles from the performances of last season.

A solid point in a tricky fixture against a top side...

Yeah, all four are big. Unless there's an improvement we could lose all of them. Not confident at all. Even Bournemouth must fancy their chances. However, we do well in those games and it could kick-start the season.

All games are big when you are a mid table club.  I am a Stoke fan.  We know every game is massive.   Welcome to the mid table club.  Surely even the biggest scouser in the world now admits you are a mid table club surely?  Please one of you admit it.    I know you have spent 20 years pretending you can win the EPL but the reality is you can't even when you bink a Suar on the cheap.
