Kin. "You could not disagree less". Is this a double negative meaning you actually agree?

Whereas Coates isn't fit to wear a Liverpool shirt based on his performances in one.

Very reminiscent of Skrtel in his early games , he took a long while and a lot of games to settle.Once(if) he gets a run of games i expect his form to improve markedly.

Possibly.  But at least Skrtel offered his tenacity and ferocity (the rest came with time, although he too is struggling at the moment - temporarily hopefully).  Coates is tall, that seems to be it.

Quite a lot of overreaction imo.

For a start I like Coates and Allen. Allen a lot. He was obviously in need of a rest after the last season + Olympics. I can't see how he can be as technically good as he was at the start of the season and be written off about 5 x 90 mins later. It's borderline mental. To me Allen is clearly a gifted midfielder.

Also I was very much in the "Benitez put out a team more than good enough to beat (insert lower league club) so it's more the players fault than his" camp - I think it's harsh to blame Rodgers now. Although it's pretty ironic Rodgers is defended by "the players let him down/havent the bottle" etc when with Rafa it was "Rafa is crap/doesn't get English footy/ommfg what a shit team/Spanish waiters don't get the history of the best club comp in the world (puke)". Everyone has their favourites I guess.

I'm never buying that the last 30 mins vs a club with massively inferior fitness levels is harder than that opening 60 mins vs a pumped up lower league side filled with adrenalin at the start of each half. Surely the sport science department at the club analyses this stuff to the nth degree. Then the likes of Paul Merson, who was a fitness car crash, is on TV next Sat saying "I don't get rotation, I'd want to play every week, Rodgers is such a twat" and Stan Collymore tweeting about player selection like he turned up for games he was picked for. FML.

Yes we could have gone 4-5-1 with meatheads all over but that's not how to build an ethos. Barca and Arsenal play the same system from under 9's to the first team. I don't think his team selection was brilliant personnel wise but I think it's wrong to say "oooh we got Oldham, let's go 4-5-1 with Salif Diao to kick the living shit out of the opposition".

Does the social media world increase the level of pressure on managers?

It seems that a new manager now gets less than half a season before there is a growing chorus of disapproval and agitation for change.

Did Wenger achieve instant success? Moyes? SAF didn't for sure. Shankly didn't either, three years to get out of the 2nd Division? I doubt there's a championship team with that level of patience those days.

Give the guy a chance, the foundations he laid at Swansea have enabled Laudrup to be hailed as a genius there.

Very much this.

Aaron, you don't agree that Allen has been poor over the past few months?

Also Coates. What has he done to make you like him?

I definitely do agree. Sorry, I think I read your "not good enough" as not good enough for Liverpool when you obviously meant performances have not been good enough. IMO he's definitely good enough for Liverpool.

He's 22. He's tall. Got OK pace. Reads the game well. He's a regular international for the best nation in South America. He's obviously not adapted to the game here as yet but has still shown glimpses of being a quality defender when part of a three and Carra in his ear - confidence in a pair will come with games and a regular partnership. As a centre half he's got loads of time.

I like Coates a lot and think he will blossom into a quality centre half. The problem with yesterdays performance was that he hadnt played a first team game in yonks, it was just rustiness. I remember him playing V Stoke last season away but he had played a bit more and was immense. Yesterday was his worst ever performance for us.

I think Allen needs a break, he looks weak and could do with an extended stint on the sidelines. (champ man fitness 61%).

Were not great but BR is trying, we cant expect to turn the club around in a year.

Can't say that, Karabiner. Rafa bought him for 20m knowing he was injured and, as he said, just imagine how expensive he would have been if he were fit Wink

Bargain.

If he gets straight into kinboshi's FF team I'm a believer...

I like Countinho coming to the pl, don't think he's much of a gamble for Liverpool.  Looked an interesting prospect in his 1st season for Inter, but went of the ball, many different managers + injuries.  Could be hit and miss, but considering recent Liverpool transfer fees, 8 m a snip.

You mean you haven't seen him play?

As Alverton said, at that price for a talent at his age it's hardly a gamble.
