lol at arbboy and the 'wants it' argument.
you'd pick Joey Barton would you?

equally amused at Kin's view that an international ban would be good for LFC
again the Joey Barton comparison comes to mind.

obviously the talent levels are different but seriously, you still want this guy playing for you and kissing the badge?

Don't follow why that's amusing?  If he gets a ban that includes club football - and say he's out for 20 games - then that not only means Liverpool are without their best player, but it also means he can't be sold or that his value drops dramatically.

If he's banned from internationals only, then it doesn't affect him playing for his club (currently Liverpool), and could make him even more attractive to potential buyers as they know he won't be shooting off to South America to play international matches during the season  - thus increasing his value.

Amused that you are expecting your once proud club to keep this guy on.

Can't see a way that he is even allowed to play anywhere next season.

Keep him on or sell him, it's better if he's not banned from club football - isn't it?  How do we sell him on if he's banned from club football.  The potential £100m (or whatever he's valued at) falls dramatically if he can't play!

As for our 'proud club' keeping him on, didn't united keep Cantona on after his kung-fu kick, or Keane on after his deliberate attack on Håland, etc.?  No player is as big as the club, but the club has selfish interests as well.

Suarez is a lunatic and he's also arguably the best striker in the world.  I don't think he's replaceable if he's playing like he was last season.  However, if he's banned and therefore not playing, he's also irreplaceable - as we won't be able to sell him or afford a decent replacement.  It might be for the better long-term good for Liverpool if they do sell him to Barca (if they're still interested, which they probably are), cash in and get the money for him before it's too late.  Good luck getting someone in close to his talent though.

Meh, Cantona's attack on the guy in the crowd was a one off, and culturally there's a difference between hard/foul tackles and swinging elbows and sinking your teeth into an opponent. Let's not forget that spitting rarely causes any physical damage but is widely condemned and that is totally a cultural issue.

Suarez is an exceptional talent and what he did for you this season was amazing. I understand that you wouldn't want to lose him but to me, the third offence deserves some significant punishment.

Nowt tribal about this, just the way it is for me in a football as a wider issue sense.

No way Liverpool will sack Suarez , Suarez would love them to , if he was sacked he would be picked up on a free and the 70 million transfer fee would end up largely in his pocket

I'm not saying Liverpool shouldn't get rid of him.  In fact, it might be best to sell him ASAP whilst his value is still high and Barca/Real are willing to splash out.  Hence why an international ban wouldn't be the end of the world at all.

I think it deserves significant punishment - but also feel that punishment should be related to his international football, in the same way as a domestic football ban doesn't impact on internationals or even European games, etc.

i am sure that bans for domestic reasons that are time length rather than games (ie 6 months rather than 30 games) are international aswell as domestic as in cantona

Secondly is biting someone on the shoulder really so much worse than deliberately elbowing a player in the face and breaking his cheekbone etc?  Would someone be treated like this if this had happened 3 times?

Someone said this - gotta agree, see so much worse on a pitch that getting all prim for a bit of gnashing seems ridiculous

Yes, considering the exuberance of his verbosity generally, the saving of 2 keystrokes seems unneccessa

Seriously?

How about if he draws blood or takes a chunk of ear?

Even Rugby draws the line at biting.
