Thewy is a Luckbox. Official.
He sat in the "manic game" for a while last night, but it was too rich even for him, so he moved, but not before he'd nicked a near £1k Pot.
It was 6 card, & the hand was 6 handed, & the chips all started flying in on the Flop, & 4 players saw the river.
He got the lot. With top two pairs. In 6 card, 6 handed!
He then moved to a super-lairy Hold-Em Game, with
Rob
Yong
, Chubbs, Greek Jack, Richard (who also moved across after winning a £1,800 Pot on the manic DC game), Big Micky Jones, etc.
Thewy departed at about 3am, over £2,000 to the good.

Rich EO learned some expensive lessons too. He was going nicely, but Omaha can be cruel, & you are nerver a big favourite going in. He lost a massive pot to DC - I never saw the hand play - & was in bad shape, his £1k+ had dropped to a few hundred. Then, at 6 card Hi-Lo, he rammed with A-2-3-4-5-x. He hit his nut low. And so did TWO others. & he got sixth-ised.
Such is poker.
I got 6thed twice in a row with the nut low though, that was the nightmare. 2nd time I had the wheel but that was no good for high either.
Anyone interested in the hand I lost to DC? I'll post if so, I WAS a big favourite, despite what Tony says :p
I never saw "the big hand" between you & DC, Rich, but you are almost NEVER a big favourite (going in) in Omaha.
How about on the turn?
Rich - it's the very nature of Omaha, that with so many possible combinations available, runner-runner beats are commonplace. A case can be argued for passing the NUTS on the Flop in certain circumstances, because there are "extensions" etc available.
Omaha players rarely complain about Bad Beats, because they are the very nature of Omaha, especially 5 & 6 card. If you intend to persevere with Omaha, you better get used to it, because that's the way Omaha is. Very much a maths game, & if you repeatedly go in with the maths edge, you'll do OK over time - but will endure some painful setbacks along the way.
The later, A-2-3-4-5 hand, where you got sixth-ised, is also a regular thing - anyone with any combination of A-2-3 is ikely to be in the hand, & so avoiding getting quartered can be the difference between profit & loss in Hi-Lo.
Yes, not really complaining about losing - I don't think I'm complaining at all. But I did get it in as a favourite, and I was about as big a favourite as you get over Dave Colclough. It was a 3-way £1600 main pot and I was inline to chop 70% of the time (+ taking the £400 side pot off Dave) then I would lose about 20% of the time, and scoop 10%. I'll take those odds, so long as I can afford it. My mistake was paying him off £150 on the river. I couldn't pass up the chance at that pot for just £150 even though I was obviously beat. Only ended £145 down on the night though - so the lessons weren't THAT expensive either

Try 8 card high lo, or 5 card triple flop. Getting ironed in that is good fun

I somehow won a £2,200 Pot last night, but I aged 20 years in the process.....
Lob Long graced our Table with his presence for a while, even though the game was a bit "flat" for him - he tends to move around the Cash Tables, & it's his trademark to spice up the game by popping it pre - not silly, but rather in the Flushy-style - looks daft, but he knows what he's doing.
He pops it every hand for an hour, & some wag comments on this.
Lob responds, quite rightly - "it's because you let me do it, not one of you has ever re-popped me yet. Repop-me & I might stop.....".
I just happen to be holding A-2-3-4-8 in Hi-Low at the time, & limp. Lob laises - sorry, Raises - & everyone calls. There's £180 in the middle now, so I get all brave when it gets back to me, & shout - in a sort of dry whisper, because I was bricking it - "POT".
"Pardon" says the Dealer. "Pardon" said everyone else. I Re-Raise Pre in Onmaha every 83 years, but I had a cunning plan, to isolate Rob.
I said "POT". And I'm regretting this already, but I'll take Rob on Heads Up with this if I have to.
I'm expecting Rob to call or re-pop - re-pop was my expectation to be honest, at my temerity to re-pop him. But he just called. It's nice when a plan comes together. And 4 others call behind him. It's horrible when a plan goes tits up. There's the fat end of £1k in the middle now, & I have £480 behind.
I'm not actually feeling too well by now, but we see this Flop.
Wrll, Rainbow, and a nice low draw. I sorta have to shove here, because I play scared & weak, & if I check, I'm gonna get bullied off. So in it goes, £480.
Rob passes, phew, then it goes CALL CALL. And my heart goes beat beat.
Anyway, it comes perfect perfect, including the rivered & oh-so vital 5, & I hit the wheel, nobody has a better high, & I scoop the lot. £2,200 I think.
And pretty much lock-up for the night. That's more than enough excitement for 1 night at my age.
One of these nights I'm gonna get mullered, but I'm £3,500 to the good in the last 2 sessions at
dt
d
. It can't last.

Great recovery you!
I was not suggesting you were complaining, I was just reinforcing that Beats are the order of the day in Omaha, they just are. You know the Maths & have the game, you'll be OK. Worse players than you have been turned over by Monty Burns.

AFAIK Tony, when there are two identical tables one may normally request to be put on the "transfer" list.
Obviously the etiquette concerns the amount of money one leaves one table with and then sits down at the next with. Were you obliged to sit at the second table with the £700 that you had in front of you at table one ?
This tactic (which I am not suggesting you would consider) could be used as a form of weeding, which is why one is not normally allowed to move to a lower priced table from a higher one in many cardrooms.
Very good point Ralph, & I imagine that could be exploited by some of the locals.
IMHO moving to a lower priced table is nothing like weeding money off and staying on the same high stake table.
Well one is simply a loophole to exploit, and the other a "crime":
The end result is that some or most of the money that was "in play" has now "gone South"

I was messing about with Angell this evening, teasing him, as you do, & he "attacked me". He's a very big, strong, cat, & he locked his legs round my arm, with his razor-like claws & sunk his needle-sharp teeth into the fleshy part of my arm. I could feel my skin being ripped, & instinctively reacted by fending him off violently - he was locked onto my arm - & in doing so, he got sort of thrown across the room, knocking over a mug of tea, & landing in/on a big plant pot.
We are not on speaking terms right now. He can forget his Turkey Dinner.

Bites, especially puncture type wounds inflicted by a cat are very VERY prone to becoming infected. Watch out for high temperature, swelling around the injury, and... (no pun intended) pus.

My Luck Pendulum in DTD Tourneys continues to swing violently, & after last Sunday's first hand farce in the £200, I did better this week, & lasted an entire Level.
It was just never gonna be my day this time.
Chili was on the table, & Raised it up round the back, & got a caller in early Position, a Chinese lad who I know from my Gala days.
She looked a bit guilty, so, with
which, oddly, was my exit hand last week, I gave her & Mr China a spin for 250.
The flop was 9-6-3 Rainbow. We all check, & it's clear Maria is not liking the 2 callers, & she's closed up. OK, I think, I'm gonna take this on the Turn.
But it was the wromg Turn - another 6 - & now I can't bet this until the River. The River came a safe 2, so it's 8-6-3-6-2.
China Checks, I bet 700, Maria looks daggers at me & Passes, but after a considerable dwell which I was not overly keen on, China calls. And shows K-3, outkicking my 9-3. Neat call that, with 3rd Pair, fair play to him.
Then Justin, who was down to - I thought - 250, after an early accident, bet out, & I decided he'd do that with any two, & isolated him by making it 1,000 with A-Q. In fact, he had 750, but it played the same, & he called with his diominated A-J, & out came the Jack.
Do, with 2,000 now (we began with 4k), I was delighted to find K-K, and an early pos Raise from Big Micky Jones, who made it 600, & I shoved. To my surprise, I find a limper lurking, & because he'd limped, Big Micky decided to join the party.
Well, Limper Lurker had A-A, & that was that. Irrespective of my stack at that point, & my earlier stack-reduction exercises, I lose the lot there anyway.
So, off to the calmer waters of the Dealers Choice it was.
The Cash Action at DTD is just amazing - up to 10 Tables at a time - all well-dealt, & mostly great fun. It's soon become the Cash-Table King of the UK - in like 3 weeks - & by the Spring, I fancy there will be even hugerer cash action there.

Thanks Tom, noted. I'll have a bath shortly & clean up the scratches & gouges.
He's only "playing", but he does not realise how sharp his claws & teeth are.
He has said sorry now, but seems to expect me to apologise too. He can forget that.
