I got the Steve Jobs book because he appears to be something of an enigma.

Designs, produces & sells cool gear? Just a bit. Nobody better at that, & his stuff is just so good, such build quality, so innovative. Proper Job.

So, the poor chap died recently, & the "Steve Jobs RIP" thread arose on blonde. Suddenly, like, it seems, most people who die, he suddenly become a Saint, & a wonderful person.

It seemed churlish to comment adversely so close to his passing, so I never.

A friend of mine, who can remain anon for now, in case this gets flamed to death, sent me this piece about Jobs, which sparked my interest, hence buying the book.

http://money.cnn.com/2008/03/02/news/companies/elkind_jobs.fortune/index.htm

Please note it is a 4 page piece, & page 3 is quite inrteresting, as a counterpoint to all the "Jobs is a God" stuff.

Strange how we suddenly become wonderful people after we die.

What an interesting photo. I could stare at photos forever, some of them say so much.

Absolutely, I read KR's autobiography recently. Man, he has had some life, and all that shines through throughout is his complete and unadulterated love for playing guitar.

On another note: Here's another video c/o Dave Gorman's tweets

http://vimeo.com/32001208

I think you'll find it fascinating.

Thanks. I think that's the same vid that Mr C sent me last week - quite something, in terms of grasping how big our little world is.

You ever read "Scar Tissue" - the Anthony Kiedis bio? Extraordinary, & well worth a look. No idea how he survived, but like KR, & Steven Tyler, & so many others, he did, somehow.

Will pick that up ty.

Never thought of it before as one doesn't think of him having had time to live a 'life', as he is only a few years older than me.  A quick scan of his wiki page suggests otherwise. Its on my list.

Kept quiet at the time but everyone bigging him up was doing my head in.  Steve Jobs might have been a genius of sorts, but seemed a pretty shit character with it.

Ralph talks about food with such authority, and with good reason. He knows his noodles, and his onions.

Ralph isn't one of those pseudo connoisseurs, he's the real deal.

He took a cigar with him to Vegas. He knew in advance exactly where he would sit to smoke it, what he would drink, and what he would eat beforehand.

With my Omaha tourney table right outside the "Noodle Asia" I felt obliged to sample the roast duck and pork with rice, as recommended by Methuselah.

Not bad, or would not have been, had they not included some form of green and White vegetable, which looked like a cross between a leek and a squid. Note he never warned me about that. He did say that the food was delivered quickly though, and he was on the money with that, it was served up within 2 or 3 minutes from being ordered.

Tomorrow, if this chest/cold improves, am gonna try the minced beef with an egg sunny side up rice dish. Actually sounds half palatable, assuming the absence of vegetables sneaked onto the plate.

At a guess, I'm going with bok choy...
