I don't think we should be mentioning Robbie Williams in the same sentence as The Beatles. Talented he may be but his success seems to owe more to the Kevin Keegan work ethic than the natural talent of a Gazza or a Cantona.
That Golden Age produced three bands who can be said to have influenced most of what has followed them IMO.
The Beatles, The Kinks and The Who each left a major mark. The Who survive and still rank as one of the best live acts I've seen this century.
At the same time as the British scene was developing the rise of Tamla and of Chess records with artistes such as Marvin Gaye, Tammi Terrell, Sam Cooke,The Supremes et al created the template for today's RnB.
Do you have some faves from that sector? Reach Out (I'll be there); Heard It Through The Grapevine; Dock of the Bay and so many more
By the way, Dark Side of the Moon predates Take That by 17 yrs, and Robbie's solo career by a lot more.

The Four Tops too David.
I've never heard gramps say a good word about Motown or Reggae.

Again, from Barry, this......
https://delicious.com/#ramitsethi/freeloaders
I had to stop reading halfway down, it was making me so angry.
If you ever find yourself on a long drive/walk and want something to listen to, check out either of these two podcasts with Ramit (the guy who compiled the list):

http://socialtriggers.com/social-triggers-ramit-sethi/
His views/experience of 'toxic customers' and internet commenters are truly enlightening (and funny)

Barry Carter posted this link, it really is worth a look.
http://www.softwarebyrob.com/2010/12/09/how-to-detect-a-toxic-customer/
The most high-maintenance customers on a poker site are usually those who ONLY play Freerolls, & have never deposited on the site.
Why has the nightly Freeroll been reduced from £500 to £400? It's a disgrace.
They feel they have an
entitlement
to that Freeroll.
Reminds me back in the day when I worked for a quote happy insurance company. One day they announced that every member of staff was getting some free shares, just because. I think it worked out as being worth about £150 right there and then, and if we kept them for three years they would guarantee they would be worth at least £300. Instead of everyone high fiving each other at this lucky and unexpected turn of events, everyone started complaining that they would have to wait three years to get the higher amount. After I pointed out to everyone it was
FREE MONEY
the complaints turned to the fact that the tax would have to be deducted before we cashed out.
'Mood hoovers' became a popular term at my old job.

Remember going to a Japan concert as a 14 year old at the Hammersmith Apollo in eye-liner and foundation. Big blonde quiff coloured by "sun in". No pictures survive.
You've changed.

Micheal O'Leary by far because he occasionally impinges my life.
I feel sympathy but no hatred for SCD viewers.
Personalised number plates are owned by tossers, but I don't hate them.
SWP is a selfish, blood sucking wanker. But I don't hate him.
Poker awards are presented by and to egotists and narcissists. But I don't hate them.
