That was, without a doubt, the most entertaining tourney report I've read in a very long time.

Well, due to my untimely exit, & promised TR, I had to "fill". True Pro, me.

And then there's Saddleworth Moor's reputation as the graves for the kids Myra Hindley & Brady murdered.
The subject matter of the first, rather haunting, song by the smiths.

By the way the pic is fro the ordnance survey map.
its of Solway Firth which is between Workington and Carlisle.
I had heard previously it was a place in Norfolk but this seems to be the new winner

Anyone recognize this House?
it's Stot Hall Farm & the M62 passes either side of it:
The house in the middle of the M62
The story of these home-owner holdouts reminds me of the infamous house that sits in the middle of the M62, the motorway that crosses the Penines between Manchester and Leeds. At Stott Hall Farm, in Calderdale, the 3-lane east bound carriageway and 3-west bound carriageway split, each to take a different way around the farm. The story goes that the farmer refused to sell up, so the developers built the motorway around him.
However, according to the Wikipedia entry on the M62, this is an urban myth - the road splits due to the contours of the ground. But the coincidence seems too great, and besides, it's a much better story.

A chap bounded up to me in
DT
D
last night, "hi tikay, bla bl bla".
I could not place him at all, at first. But it was Sam Orams. Who?
Sam Orams pretty much ran PokerZone, who in turn, Produced "Poker Night Live". He also featured in the PokerZone "Poker News Round-Up", in rotation with Kara Scott. I worked for Sam for a year or so, & we barely spoke, except socially. He just gave us the brief to do the Show - "just talk poker for 4 hours" - & left us to it. Wonderful times. Well not that wonderful, as it eventually closed down, due to lack of Sponsors.
PokerZone has been reincarnated in Mainland Europe, it regurgitates old Poker Shows, & occasionally picks up fresh content. It's not available in the UK, as far as I know, & PNL has not been resurrected.
Sam was at
DT
D
in discussion with Nick Whiten & Mother Hen discussing TV Coverage of the Norweigan Poker Championships. I doubt if it'll ever air in the UK, they have no outlet, but they are big in Scandie-Land, so it makes sense.
Incidentally, Mother made me aware that
DT
D
are having a think & a Team-Meet about the use of Lappies at the Table during Tourneys or Cash Games. They spied the thread, & decided to have an in-house natter about it. I have no collusion worries - unless there were two at the same table, in which case I'd ask for clarification - but it certainly spoils the Table flow & atmo significantly.
The Table Atmo at
DT
D
is, to my mind, key to it's popularity. No Venue generates better atmosphere between players. As you knows, drinks & light refreshments have to be paid for at
DT
D
, but the habit has already developed of "buying a round", like in a pub. It's very rare for anyone not to "ask the Table" when ordering a drink, & that aids the kinship between poker players out for the evening, with more on their minds than just winning. A round is not cheap, but it balances out. Anyway, it's very well worth it in my view.
Talking of which, I never saw a single Valet at Manchester-G tonight. Still, I suppose if I'd lasted more than half-an hour.....
I've found a silver lining for tonight's £200 early bath. I think I can wear the white shirt I'd so lovingly ironed, without washing & ironing it again. I mean, it's hardly been worn. Knew I'd find a positive.

Yes Carl, I plan to be in Edinburgh at the Maybury for APAT Weekend. Not sure when I will arrive, or how I shall get there - I'm doing the Sky Poker Show on the Friday night. Probably fly up early Saturday morning, or even better, let the train take the strain.

See you tonight Rich!
I did plan to play some DC if things went wrong, but I came up without much Cash, so that was that.
The idea tonight is to make it into the uncharted territories of Level 3, minimum.

Mooching round the blonde House this morning, I came across the best explanation of the word "decorum" I've ever seen.
the prescribed limits of appropriate social behavior within a set situation.
Nail, head.

If the set situation is a poker table, the limits of appropriate behaviour seem to be fairly undefined.
