Twice now I've been the man on the rail who piped up and said that the pot had been awarded to the wrong player.

Both times they checked the hands, including mucked cards.

Both times I was wrong.

well obviously you should keep quiet then.

I have a very vague memory of something which happened at a WSOP FT sometime; player gets all in, board is dealt and player leaves to handshakes and all. Phil Hellmuth now points out from the rail that it was a split pot. players, dealer, TD and almost the whole rail had missed it. should Phil have kept quiet here and just let a player get knocked out of the FT?

Doesn't matter what tourney it is..they can either speak up or can't...I think someone that's not in the game should not get involved in the game.

If the cards are shown down on the table, I think anyone should point out a mistake, the cards speak after all.  The difference would be when you are railing behind someone and you can see their cards.  Just before they fold a winner, you point out that they actually should show down as they have part of the pot, that is clearly wrong.  But once they do show down, its the right thing to point it out.  It don't make you too many friends though....

And Tony, sorry to be a post-event smart arse, but if you know the pot size is such that you have to call, surely that is a good enough reason to bet?

Absolutely. I was just delaying the inevitable, trying to duck a tough decision. They might give me two Freebies.....(It needs to be seen in the context of the evening, as described earlier). I mean, it was J-Q-5, & I'm pretty much Low-ing only. I just play sub-optimally (= badly) - very - when I don't play deep enough. I've now resolved never to sit at these Games unless I have a 3 full pull-ups - one on Table, two in my sky.

Gotta go, I need to ring back a Plump Person from Brighton.

I was sent a Contract to read, approve & sign today, for "services" I have been asked to provide, & I've just finished ploughing through it. It includes about 30 pages of "legals", the usual stuff. It's a Long-Term Contract, & I'm chuffed to bits with it, but chillyingly, includes this under "Termination".......

13.4.7. The Agreement may be terminated immediately by (XXXX) by notice in writing to the Poker Professional (that's me, please don't grass me up) if the Poker Professional.....

13.4.7.1 Becomes unable to perform his duties by reason of mental or physical ill-health.

13.4.7.2 Dies.

Cheerful souls, these Solicitors & Lawyers. I think they may have sussed me, & got in a pre-emptive get-out. Bugger.

I assume they are packing you off for tests so they have a "Baseline" result on your mental faculties, you know, just in case they have never heard you ramble......

I joined Facebook in it's early days, but it's all changed now. It's become a Spamming Network, & I (we) get sent Invitations to join this that or the other group, buy a share in so & so for a Poker Tourney (what?), Play in xxx.co.uk's Poker Freeroll, etc. Jeez, I don't need all that. My "Invitations" come to me by e-Mail, & then I have to sign in & confirm or whatever.

I see kids in Offices totally obsessed with Facebook, it's like a time-sponge. We all have obsessions, especially me, but I shan't be adding Facebook to that list, blonde & yahoo e-Mail is more than enough.

It's a bit like Christmas Cards at School or in the Office - everyone buys everyone else one in case they buy one for us. And Facebook is like that, it's "keeping up with the Jones's". "Guess who asked me to be their Friend on Facebook today?" goes the line. "Do I give a monkeys" is the answer.

And now it has all these weird "Applications", which you have to sign up to. Fun Wall, SuperWall, Human Gift, Scramble, HotOrNot, & so on. Scores of them.

I've just ignored all the "Requests" for months, not even opened my Faceboook. I bumped into someone a few nights ago who asked why I'd ignored their "Friend Request", & although it seems odd to be "asked" to be a Friend, & even odder asked why I did/will not, I felt a bit bad, & decided to go on Facebook & "accept" the Request.

This is what I found waiting for me.....

1 super wall post request

1 pirate invitation
1 pirate invitation
1 fighters' club invitation

Well, I mean, that's just ridiculous!

And there were 38 unanswered "somethings" (e-mails, PM's notes, what are they?) in my Inbox.

Well, I just can't be doing with all that, so I decided to just abandon it. I wonder if people think I'm rude if I just ignore them?

PS - Decided to "accept" most - but not all, sod that - of the "Friend Requests". I'm my own worst enemy when it comes to Time MisManagement. It seems so rude to ignore them all. I think I need to toughen up.

And I am told there are "Alternative" Facebook-Type networking Sites - Saga even run one.

The modern world. I'm glad I lived in the era I did. Our "Social Network" as kids was to stand outside a Boozer on a Saturday night with a bag of Crisps & a bottle of Lemonade. Never been happier, either, as it meant a "late Night" - maybe not go to bed until 11pm. Who needed Facebook?

No joy. I have to join some "application" or other, full in details, & then "unwrap the human gift". Sod that.

The "Spurs Invitatuon" is a worry, too. I may Edit that out in case my freinds see it.
