Ralph retains "The nicest man in Nottingham Award"?

Ralph gets a trophy for finally beating Bopkin or Matt at Pool?

Assume its Golf related, and Ralph too wise to be caught up in scratch league so assuming Club Champion or Club Stableford comp?

It's Independence Day here in the USA, which, it seems to me, is celebrated by 2 things - fireworks, & Nathan's Hot Dog Eating contest.

Unsurprisingly, the Hot Dog Contest winner was Joey Chestnut, who has won 9 of the last 10 renewals.

He managed - in 10 minutes - 72 Hot Dogs, including the buns. That'll be 20,160 calories.

He came to the contest in great form, too, having just last month won the World Ice Cream Sandwich Eating Championship. He got through 25.25 Ice Cream Dessert Delights in 6 minutes, but it went to a tie-breaker which he duly won.

This, of course, is serious business, & is sanctioned by MLE - Major League Eating.

MLE run all sorts of Eating contests, look;

http://www.majorleagueeating.com/contests.php

The Hot Dog thing is broadcast live on ESPN, who boast that they syndicate the show to 72 countries. Presumably that excludes the likes of Bangladesh & large parts of Africa.

I am not making any of this stuff up. It's real.

If you have never watched a Hot dog Eating contest, look away now, it's the most obscene & disgusting thing you ever saw.

The whole thing is abhorrent, but then again, I cant help watching it.

Here's Joey in action today.

If you happen to bump into him, Jesse May is a connoisseur of this 'sport', knows a lot about it as a 'fan'.

Assume its Golf related, and Ralph too crap to be caught up in scratch league so assuming Club Champion or Club Stableford comp?

FYP Adam but you were very close.

I won the Manny Freeman Trophy at Captain's Day of Nottinham/Sheffield/Leicester Jewish Golf Society which happened to be hald at my course Wollaton Park GC.

We played from the yellow tees and I had a very good day off my new 11 handicap garnering 40 points.

The course is playing beautifully at present if you like it fairly hard and fast which I do - the greens are only medium-paced but firm and very true.

Have a pleasant flight and I'll see you next week no doubt.

Well done sir, well played.

Is your committee man in charge of Rule 19 on holiday?
Please submit all cards.
I would be having .4 or .6 off you for that.
Single figures would suit you.

Big congrats to Uncle Ralph.

Love that photo. The combination of chest puffed with pride & belly expanding with age is priceless.

Why does that not surprise me?

I've not seen him here this year.

Prompted by your mention of Jesse May, I last saw him on March 12th, & I was mightily shocked to hear he now has a proper 9-5 Day Job.

I cannot think of too many folk I thought less likely to get a proper job. Who'd have thought?

I'm not sure of his exact role, but he works for Matchbook these days.

I wish him well, of course I do, but somehow it feels like a disappointment that such an adventurous roving spirit has come across to the dark side & got himself a proper job.

What next - Camel get a job with Ladbrokes, or Sky Bet?

Today will be the last scheduled event on the 2017 Stake, (1 or 2 more little ones MIGHT be added) & it's a cracker, an $1,100 PLO/PLO8/Big O affair at Venetian.

15,000 starting chips (starting at 50-100), 40 minute levels, Late Reg until the end of Level 6.

Start time is 5.05pm, which is 01.05 AM in the UK.

Of the $1,100 entry cost, $980 goes into the prize pool, $75 is the entry fee & $45 is the "staff fee". I think that makes the total juice 12.5%, not unreasonable by Vegas standards. The place is mint, too, as are the dealer & table quality, and it's a pleasure to sit on plush leather chairs.  Every table has automatic shuffle machines, which speeds things up a treat.

I had an early night in preparation, & I'm ridiculously excited to be playing this beauty.

Please let the God's of Seat Draws be kind today, 4, 5 or 6 will do nicely, but 2 or 7 will be poo. The seat I had last time at Venetian was a real handicap.

I hope I don't need a re-entry, but if an accident arose early enough, I would definitely consider it.

Meanwhile, at The Rio, the Main Event does not start until Saturday, but the next "convention" is getting ready already, the "greatest pool tournament in the world", expected to attract 5,500 cue artists.
