Further rules, intended to level the playing field between the recreational players and the professionals, include a prohibition on sunglasses, hats and hoodies. Players will not be allowed to cover any part of their body from the neck up. Furthermore, players in the final nine will be required to wear a formal suit for the final day’s play.

Oooh, I DO like that.

I would doubt it's enforceable, (or even true?) but it would be thoroughly wholesome to see players dressed suitably for a big occasion.  

It’ll be interesting to see if they enforce the dress code. I was fortunate enough to report on the €1M buy-in Big One for One Drop back in October 2016, which was held in the Casino de Monte-Carlo. The final eight were all asked to wear black tie, which would be provided by a local tailor free of charge. As you can see from the photo, only four of the eight finalists obliged.

Think "black tie" might be a little over the top, but it's a step in the right direction.

Here's the 2015 November Nine, a fairly typical assemblage of rags tags & bobtails, where exactly one player has made an effort. 

If poker wants to attract mainstream sponsors, & the money they bring to the table, then players need to make a little effort. In almost every mainstream sport or recreation which gets extensive media coverage, the participants present themselves properly.

Sorry for the late bump, but I haven't clocked this was invite only  (each rec can invite one guest), so I am guessing pros aren't risking future invites by rocking up in a pair of scruffy jeans.  I assume that they may not be so fussy if Guy Laliberte rocks up in an old tracksuit?  I guess there isn't going to be much berating of the fish either
