Cards went cold and blinded down to 12,000, then facing an open we get it in. I have A-3-Q-Q with a nut suit, he has A-2-3-4 and it runs out all high.
25,500.

Facing an open and two callers, I find
Pot it, fella repots.
He has
50,000 pot for 50% above average.
High board one time?
The two club flop was horrible, he has me covered in clubs and he gets instant service on the turn.
BUSTO
Brutal stuff, and we are 0/4.
Off to sulk.
Dropping down to selling grade tomorrow on a recovery mission with a small one at Binions, 11am (7pm uk) start.
Night all.

Paul Jackson is on the adjacent table right opposite Miss Hoang and appears to be concentrating hard.
Probably wondering if she would be open to being staked...

Further rules, intended to level the playing field between the recreational players and the professionals, include a prohibition on sunglasses, hats and hoodies. Players will not be allowed to cover any part of their body from the neck up.
Furthermore, players in the final nine will be required to wear a formal suit for the final day’s play.
Splendid.
Oooh, I DO like that.
I would doubt it's enforceable, (or even true?) but it would be thoroughly wholesome to see players dressed suitably for a big occasion.
It’ll be interesting to see if they enforce the dress code. I was fortunate enough to report on the €1M buy-in Big One for One Drop back in October 2016, which was held in the Casino de Monte-Carlo. The final eight were all asked to wear black tie, which would be provided by a local tailor free of charge. As you can see from the photo, only four of the eight finalists obliged.
Morning Nick, hope you are keeping well. How are things with 'Stars? Have to keep reminding myself I work for them now too.
Dress standards? Hmm.
Think "black tie" might be a little over the top, but it's a step in the right direction.
Here's the 2015 November Nine, a fairly typical assemblage of rags tags & bobtails, where exactly one player has made an effort.
If poker wants to attract mainstream sponsors, & the money they bring to the table, then players need to make a little effort. In almost every mainstream sport or recreation which gets extensive media coverage, the participants present themselves properly.

Sorry for the late bump, but I haven't clocked this was invite only (each rec can invite one guest), so I am guessing pros aren't risking future invites by rocking up in a pair of scruffy jeans. I assume that they may not be so fussy if Guy Laliberte rocks up in an old tracksuit? I guess there isn't going to be much berating of the fish either

Off to Binions this morning for an 11am (7pm UK) start.
Wifi at Binions is unreliable at best, & usually absent, but we'll see.

If you're going to knock it in, at least post more food.
Binions burger for breakfast, please.

Do NOT eat at Binion's cafe imo. 1.01 issues after munching here. Some of the food is older than the waitresses.

Do not listen to Chompy.
Binion's burgers are superb pre tourney fodder.
