I don't think it's right to presume that he must have known he had two idential cards.  If you look down at two red Aces you wouldn't really bother checking the suits too carefully would you?

Whether he knew or not - & it's probable that he did - is is his responsibility to pay attention.

when I flick up the corners of my cards and see 2 red aces I have no need to pull the cards up further and check the suits, I know from years of experience which 2 suits are red. I only check the suits if I see 1 black and 1 red

then the cards are tabled and a full table plus the dealer failed to notice immediately, not just AA man.

OK - let's say that you are dealt aces - one black and one red.  The board comes down three diamonds.  Do you know without checking your cards again whether you have the Ace of diamonds? I know I don't, as it's not relevant until after the flop.  The mind makes short-cuts and only takes in the info it needs.  Therefore two red aces =  - most humans would probably swear that's what they had in this scenario.

Give away reads much? You should know your cards before the flop, its not hard to remember two suits and two letters/numbers.

I've sent, & received, countless number of similar such notes. But in private.

We've seen that on blonde, too, a lot. Got a grievance? -  settle it in the back garden, not in the street, hollering at the top of your voice. If you really want to solve the problem, that is.

Anyway, never mind that, I'm off for a nap, & I'm going to dream of those two letters, & being able to express myself one 100th as well as they both can.

Surely it is a mistake, the person proofing assumed that the inserted "a" was a grammatical error and therefore removed it, they did not understand the correct sentence.

I find it disturbing that some actually find the emails (true or not,) to be funny.

Well, it was a mistake in the sense that the "a" could not have been accidentally removed, & that was the context which he was suggesting. It was deliberately removed, not accidentally removed. So it was not a mistake in that sense, it was a bad error of judgement, & a lack of understanding.

Funny? Not sure about funny, but I found it jaw-droppingly great to read, because here we were, mere mortals, getting an insight by an expert into how to write, how to really write, - he (Mr Coren) explained so much.

The fact that Mr Coren placed it in the public domain earned him nil points from me, my view on this sort of attention-seeking are well known.
