The hand should stand. Yes - some folks actually think that!

The hand should be void.

The player with the two identical cards should receive a penalty. (It IS his reponsibilty to spot, & report, such n error - BEFORE the flop is dealt, & even if he never noticed, he still has a responsibility).

The TD should be shot.

The Dealer should be shot.

Common-sense says "void the hand". I'd also have the guy with the Aces time-penalised one level. That'll teach him to pay more attention next time.

If the TD AND the dealer are to be shot, in which order should this happen, and who pulls the trigger ?

Earlier this week, I watched Ralph use one half of his only remaining slice of toast to mop the last vestage of an egg stain from his breakfast plate. He then smothered the remaining half with marmalade, and ate it with relish. I remarked upon his excellent appetite, and he told me that it wasn't usually so good because at home, he was a nosher.

Now I had assumed that to be a "Nosher" one would need to have quite a good appetite, but, as Ralph was at pains to point out, a nosher in this context would be someone who indulged in frequent short sessions on eating, and that being a nosher himself, he was usually incapable of  finishing an entire meal.

We then had a lengthy conversation about the subtle differences and shades of meaning imparted by the use of the word "Nosh" depending on the context in which it is used.

Now isn't that a coincidence?

I think AA guy should be given a penalty i can't believe he didn't notice and so basically was trying to win the pot without showdown to get an early lead on what is basically a freeroll as the hand is voided if it doesn't work.

Yes, just a bit! How extraordinry, the timings especially.

I'd never heard Mr Coren's example of the words usage before. But he did say it was a Yiddish expression, I think?

You'd better have a word with young Raif, to re-establish exactly what he mean't. He's a bit of a laddo, on the quiet, eh?

Hope you are both having a ball. My Diary has thinned out a bit now, just as you boys are nearing the end of the Vegas trip.

Look forward to seeing you both next weekend, at DTD'd 3-2-1 no doubt.

Nothing more annoying than sub-standard editorial staff/proofreaders. I always double check my weekly copy to a certain paper and they always manage to butcher it.
This made me avoid sending the copy over until closer to deadline time but that only made things worse. Photos that don't match the copy, key paras that I'd never written, etc. Grrrr

I never knew you wrote articles - may I ask upon which subject?

No, let me guess.

Gambling? Greyhounds? Trichology?

LOL @ Trichologoy. Greyhounds? No no, too common for me, horseracing ftw

Gets the prize.

I mischievously wondered how long it would be before someone stated the obvious.

He HAS to be penalised. Unless T-T guy setted, & thus moved in/Called, AA man would have bullied him off & take a nice pot, free in the knowledge he was freerolling, & nobody would have been any the wiser. Conversely, that gives some grounds upon which to award the Pot to T-T man.

But yes, Void the hand, & Penalise A-A man is my take.

I don't think it's right to presume that he must have known he had two idential cards.  If you look down at two red Aces you wouldn't really bother checking the suits too carefully would you?
