Hi Tikay,

Random question - does the name Amar Morjaria, sometimes known as Figo ring any bells?

Only vaguely, & for the oddest of reasons. We shared a Table - he busted me in fact, when I was just in the money in a £1k Event at The Vic a good few years ago. It was probably the last Tourney I ever played at The Vic, as they changed the structure twice during the Tourney, but the real reason I recall it was because Jim Britton Finalled (a real rarity)  -  but not before he'd mortally offended (via some most indelicate speech-play) that most un-offendable of players, Ross Boatman.

John Gale, Mickey Wernick & Stu Nash all Finalled, too.

Why do you ask?

He won that event when he was 19 and when I mentioned blonde to him he mentions that he always talks to you and that you said you thought he was a terrific player and that he should play more events on the circuit.

He does talk a lot of S though.

I know him as "Figo", & yes, we used to chat a good bit. We played a lot of Cash at the time, at The Vic, too.

I actually thought he'd packed up playing, to be honest. Not seen or heard from him in an age.

I sort of self-barred myself from The Vic, so lost touch with a lot of folks.

Iron

Im not sure what kind of support you get (ie from NHS), but hopefully this might help.

I recently burnt my fingers (badly), and was fortunate enough to have an ambulance station (the car type abulances) at my local pharmacy. I was just on my way to get that cooling spray stuff, but they had some amazing burn treatment which they gave me. It was basically a sponge material soaked in some kind of coolant (it is packaged in a foil type 'tear open' pack (imagine like KFC finger wipes - but A4 paper size). You only need to leave ot on for a few hours, it takes all the heat out of it - and also repairs the skin. I have no idea where you could get some of this stuff, but if you could, and you could be out fo your chair for say 5 hours -  it sounds like it could help. The NHS will definately carry it - i just dont know if it is something which could be prescribed - i just got lucky - but the stuff is amazing.

I guess the problem is that fact your back has no respite from the friction - but if you could do the above, and then sleep through the night afterwards - you would have a good 12-15 hours of healing time.

Hope you get well soon fella

That's a great Post, thank you very much. I'll ring Iron & make him aware of it, as he may not be Online today.

My suggestion - to alleviate, rather than cure - was to place a (small) inflated car inner-tube between his back & the Chair, so that his back did not touch the chair, thus no more friction. Red came up with a similar, perhaps better, solution, too.

It's really moving that so many folks care about Iron so much to Post on the subject.

He's a crochety old sod, but blonde would not have survived the early days without the unpaid help he gave me, & my respect for how he copes with his problems in life is immense.

I've rung him, he's still in bed, & his back remains "very tender".

Told him to take a look at the Post by outrageous. I know he'll appreciate it, though he'll probz have a chunter, knowing him.

that's what I was thinking, a haemorrhoid ring type arrangement depending on how big the sore patch is

on the bright side 4 weeks to get better before leeds

What about one of them things they hang over car seats to help with back problems.

You know the things with the little wooden balls on them?

I can't see them causing friction.

Yes - exactly that - though "outrageous"'s suggestion might be the best answer.

thanks they have tried all sorts of creams and potions ffs the idiots even put me on a case of anti biotics but nothing has sorted it

its not a new problem its been getting worse for the past year which is why i have stopped traveling to play as much as i used to

its got so bad recently though that i was having to stop my car  twice on the way into town (9 miles away) so havent

even been going through to aberdeen

problem with using pads and cushions to releave the pressue is that they alter my posture and this inturn will effect

the pressures on other parts of my body which could lead to me getting pressure sores (like bed sores) and could tie me up on bed rest

indefinatley so every action has a reaction which isnt so great

thank you all for your wishes

and see you all in leeds just dont expect me to be playing footy

Poker in the "park"

lolz, the step up is even smaller than I was remembering. I'm really struggling to see what the complaint is about

Actually that step is quite high for a wheelchair. The tip backwards you need to make to get up that is quite acute (if that's the word) and the effort of pushing up it especially when there are crowds walking along the pavement makes life a bit difficult as you can easily run into them.  A few ramps deffo wouldn't have gone amiss imo.

Iron. I've been examining a wheelchair today which, to my untrained eye, looks very like yours. The back support part seems to be made of a soft "Leatherette" type material. Can't you cut a hole in it where it rubs?
