Surely then that makes him technically disabled but not unable to make him walk from a parking bay a little further away. Maybe im just being a little over harsh but im more questioning the blue badge system than the man himself.
I know when i took my nan out shopping once i had someone question me as to why i was parked in a disabled bay- She was in the shop at the time and i was just collecting something from the car. I can understand why he asked though. When i do go out nan loves to use it but if i can i just park in another bay near by with plenty of space.

Yeah, I think it's very rude when these nosey parker types come and question your blue badge credentials when you're just going about your normal business.

i do it frequently, for obvious reasons. around here I witness workers from the local council offices parking in the spaces so that they need to walk less of a distance to get their lunchtime sandwich. one exchange went

'excuse me mate, are you disabled ?'

'erm, no ' (trying to hurry away to the shop)

'would you like to be ?'

'eh ?'

'move yer fkin motor or you will come out to four flat tyres...i promise'

DTD carpark is very bad for it IMHO....

Not that it matters much but the chap's name is Alistair Carins. A fierce mien, but sort of understand why now.

Thanks Rich.

I just got a little detail wrong. His name. Oh, & the checkbox thing. That apart, it's all 100% kosher. Mostly 100%.

Mr Shark man is a semi reg at luton, plays poker in the right way IMO, puts some horrible beats on people but receives his fair share too and i've never seen him say out of turn to anyone. was telling me the story a couple of weeks ago.  The whole table sat there pretty much mouths wide open. Understandable, it's not everyday you meet someone that has survived a shark attack. Think he has been around on the poker scene for years actually, Southend player in the past i think.

Was also saying that the guy that saved him gets all the attention if they ever go anywhere. apparently no one cares about the bloke that got attacked lol.

Thanks Vinni.

I now seem to recall him from Southend, I think we used to hook up down there 6 or 7 years ago, & that'd be where he knows me from I guess.

What a story!

I was always told sharks don't like the taste of human blood which is why so many people survive shark attacks, the buggers just give up once they taste the flesh.

That seems to fit, & would explain why the shark scarpered once the blood was spouting freely.

Either that or it had just remembered that it'd left the iron on.

I would imagine he has reduced use of the arm which will make carrying things more difficult so a disabled bay nearer to the shops would be helpful.

He cannot grip with the hand and can only move his arm from the shoulder.  he cannot even open his car door with that hand.

Iron. If there was a regular space available next to a disabled space with suitable door access etc. would you use that space in order to leave the disabled space available for someone else who may need it later.

The reason I ask is that there's a really annoying woman where I work who has a disabled badge. She gets to work early and there's always plenty of spaces with ample  door opening as close to where she needs to go as the actual disabled space. She always uses the disabled space though meaning that it's occupied all day by her and not available for any disabled visitors later in the day who may need it.

Seems really selfish to me.

Just wanted to get that off my chest.

if the way the parking is marked it means that when i come back no one can have narrowed the room i need for parking i will always take the normal parking spot allowing a space available for someone that needs it more

in aberdeen they have there own parking rules a couple of years back in the pooring rain i parked in what i thought was a regular disabled bay only to get back and found a £100 fine for parking in a green bay
dont ask me what  green bay is for i never bothered to find out after i managed to get rid of the fine, they started there own system without telling anyone in the out lying districts that travelled in and out of the place, then used green paint instead of yellow so in the dark and the wet you couldnt tell the difference anyway

The "ownership" of Parking spaces is one of those really weird psychological things.

In the EvilPie Post, if I were that Lady, & I had a Badge, by God, I'd use it - I just would. It's a Badge thats more than a badge. I CAN park here if I want, & I WILL. You CANNOT, & you WILL NOT.

It's like the space in front of our house - we own it. But we don't.

When I was playing Golf, I used to sneer down my nose at the Captain & Club Officers who had reserved Parking Spaces. Snobs, cretins, every one of them.

Until I became, first, Vice- Captain, then Captain, then Past Captain, for which there werre prime, reserved, and marked Parking spaces. Woe betide any cretin who parked in MY space.
