Some of the pics in this thread I just came across are pretty amazing...
http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/34/other-other-topics/pictures-say-1000-words-some-pretty-disturbing-599916/
The video of the Pennsylvania senator committing suicide, is probably the most disturbing thing I have ever watched. Had to turn it off.
I've got this far on the thread. Started watching it, then decided it didn't want to see it and turned it off.
same, i got to the bit where he puts the gun to his mouth and just had to click off
Apparently it's possible to miss..
Loooooooooooooooooooooooool ... we were all thinking it Ralph
Between this and Trace's post in the whinge thread - my day is complete!

This is fascinating, and even Tikay might consider it art:
Apparently shot on a 1,000,000 frames per second camera.

Am up in Newcastle for the SPT.
The Hotel Reception is on the 2nd floor. My Room is on the 4th floor. Breakfast is on the 8th floor. The lift will be fixed next week. As will the Heating. Marv.
The Film Crew were booked to fly. Flight from Heathrow cancelled, so they are not coming now. Which means I won't have a Runner to fetch me coffee & look after me. Outrageous.
I drove up yesterday, roads almost deserted. No traffic, no problems, just had to stop 7 or 8 times to clear the salt off the windscreen.
Tighty is here too.
Lots of cancellations, pfft. First bloke I met here had come up from Portsmouth (BIGSHANN), the next had come from the Shetland Isles! One geezer is kiicking up a right fuss & wants his money back (he qualified via a Super Sat for £2.40) because "the roads are too bad to travel". He lives in Gateshead.

That was good timing!
Thanks for your comments over at the other place James. I hope to get up to date on this Diary next week. I have a few "issues" to sort first, fml, & then I should be back on an even keel.
PS - Loved that question & answer over there.
"What is a nit, what does "nit" mean?".
"A nit is a bloke like tikay. And John Eames".
I really did pmsl!

Wow not gonna be a good turnout then Tikay? Are you the only Sky presenter going to be there? I heard Dan and Ben were heading up for definate. Got a call few weeks ago asking me if I wanted a free seat I kindly declined as its about a 5 hour drive for me.
lolololololol Gateshead thats like a 2min drive! Maybe he doesnt have a car given the fact he qualified via the super sat and didn't fancy the walk in the snow! Prob wears clogs, one of those guys like my Grandad "When I was a boy we walked 15 miles in the snow to school and we didn't even wear shoes back then, just some clogs the local carpenter carved us up!".

AHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
They googled it and everything - brilliant! Its so true though, like I said nothing wrong with being a nit how else are people going to combat the young LAG's of today
. Helmuth's a nit and is one of the most successful players in the world, speaks for itself.

What's with all these new arrivals, headcases the lot of them, Posting nonsense all over the Forum? It's like an outbreak of some dreadful disease.
The JoeArama guy, been Banned here 6 times, small-time wannabe grimmer, comes on as transparent as a sheet of glass, & thinks he can't get one through. He's clearly cerebally challenged, but amazingly thinks everyone here is, too. Schmock.
Now we've got some other nutter running riot all over the Forum, posting tosh. Judging by his Posts, his mental age appears to be about 3. Exactly matching his IQ.
Have they all been Banned from another Site, or something? A complete waste of bandwidth.

Just ban them if they're massive idjots and they've been knocked back elsewhere. It's not as if blonde is purporting to be this kind of operation...
Bring us your tiresome, your piss poor, your huddled massive idjots.

Listening to a review on R4 about the new film based on Ian Dury's life, I was reminded - because he was one such sufferer - of polio, aka "poliomyelitis".
It was incredibly rife amongst children in the 1950's, & was sometimes called, I think, infantile paralysis.
Every school class had 3 or 4 kids wearing what I seem to recall were called "calipers", or, less flatteringly, "leg-irons". A search of google images failed to find a reasonable such photo, but it was very common.
Everyone dreaded catching it, it was the most terrible thing, but many kids got over it - if being permanently disabled in one or more limbs was "getting over it" - & lived normal lives.
Adult sufferers in some cases lived the rest of their lives in an artificial respirator, as their chest muscles or lungs were paralysed I suppose, these machines were known as "iron lungs".
Can you imagine spending your life like this?

And so this picture is a bit of a shocker. Can you begin to imagine? This was one polio ward in one hossie. Hundreds of thousands of Iron Lungs were built. The illness was amazingly widespread. Nowadays, modern medicine has almost eradicated it, thank God.

And finally, some black humour.
I bet this geezer was really thrilled to see the Newspaper Headline. Different times, those.

One more photo I just found. Pardon the dreadful pun, but this is just breathtaking. What a way to live, to survive, to exist.
Check this out.....

PS - I wish I could find a photo of a typical 50's child in leg calipers.
