Yes 2 o'clock on a saturday afternoon, very very quiet it was too.  Only a quick point and click of the iPhone, hardly photography!  Cheesy

'Down the line photo' looks better without a sole around I think, strangely, for some reason.

I have Posted on the Thread, & thanks to Tighty for making me aware.

The quality of photographs*, more than adequate for an internet Forum, astounds, & poor old Kodak & Co must be weeping. How much has photography changed in our lifetime? We used to insert a roll of film into a camera, take 12 photos, then take the roll of film to a chemist, & return a week later to collect them. Now it's point, click, & publish, all instant.

* Are "images" taken on , say, an i-phone, strictly speaking, "photographs"?

PS - PLEASE - it's "soul", not sole", though pedants might argue that in fact there is not a sole in sight either, I guess, so "Objection over-ruled, white flag".

He is really good though Smiley

I was watching QI tonight and when watching it I thought to myself,Tank is the Stephen Fry of blonde.I don't have the authority to crown you with such a title so I hope tikay agrees and thus will do the honours.

...and AndrewT is the unholy offspring of John Sessions and David Mitchell - and I mean that as a compliment.

Radio 5's Monday night football talk-in interested on various levels last night.

They had Stevey Claridge (note "Stevey", not Steve", because this is football), Motty (ditto) & a few randoms. Pretty good debate, actually, though not on a par with when Robbie Savage - "Robs" - is in the Studio on Saturday nights, which is altogether on a different level, right up there with Danny Baker. Anyway, I digress.

So one of the randoms throws out a "who will replace Fergie at Man Utd?" line which I thought had actually closed the station, as it went totally silent for like 30 seconds, before they all started pissing themselves with laughter, & asking what he was on.

The poor chap, instead of trotting out the usual names, Mourinho, Moyes, O'Neill, etc, actually came up with something a bit different. Carlo Ancelotti.

Well, they mocked him up hill & down dale. "The next Utd Manager needs to be experienced at the top Level". "He needs to have taken over a big club seamlessly", "He needs to have won the big trophies" etc.

Quite so.

Next, Motty gave his weekly Geeks Question, this one prompted by the 5 minute affair which ruined Man City's day on Sunday.

Name the only two footballers to be sent off in the FIRST MINUTE of a Premiership match.

So, the answers came in thick & fast, by the hundred. And every single one of them named Vinnie Jones as one of the two.

Perception is an interesting thing, eh?

Ahh, sorry, I missed that.

So it's been "established" that Motty was wrong, yeah?

Interesting that, here as on R5, someone immediately said VJ.

Robbie Savage is a revelation, is he not, as a pundit/host?

Out of this world.

Different, original, industrious, argumentative, but ready to mock himself. A big future awaits him in broadcasting when he eventually gives up playing. Quite an interesting character, too, in so many ways, most at odds with his on-pitch personna.

Never before have I tried to listen to a R5 football prog, but I do try to catch that.

If I get it right, he finishes his Saturday match, showers, then goes straight into a booth & does the Show. A hard working footballer, who'd have thought? I'd be surprised if the gig pays much, either. Maybe £1k, or thereabouts

correct, he finishes match and is driven to the nearest BBC regional studio where at 6.06pm he's ready to go

Not quite Danny Baker, for me, but a real talent and quite unexpectedly so

tons are for old people.

I know what a ton is though, & how it is constituted.

20 bags of cement.

Each bag is a cwt.

Each cwt contains 8st.

Each st contains 14lbs.

Each lb contains 16ozs.

It was so simple pre tennage. (That's tennage, not tonnage).

I was taught all that 50 odd ears ago, & it's still indelibly there. Who needs mnenomics?

I could not begin to guess what a tonne contains. 1,000 somethings, I guess. Is there a phrase for a tenth of a tonne? Or a 20th of a tonne?

PS - how do we pronounce "mnenomics"? "M & N" don't belong at the start of a word, ever. How many other everyday words begin with "mn"?
