don't go storming ahead too quickly before reporting it all to the insurance company and getting them to take a look. they'll sort getting the place properly dried out for starters, and would imagine will cover the other losses, but not if you sort everything out before letting them know what's going on.
DTD started at 5.
See you later luton later
Marv, well done tikay. I'm 20 minutes from DTD, but it's too late. How organized am I?

Nice to get it written down and off your chest at times Gramps.
Puts things into perspective at times when you hear a story like yours.
Glad your turning this experience into a positive one, as I knew you would anyway.
Listen here young Dylan, this is blonde, not next door - you can't call me "Gramps", OK?
We don't tolerate name-calling, you plump Welsh tart.
PS - Get qualifying for Vegas, I demand you be there this year. If I get the gig, I'll need someone to abuse. You seem to fit the bill perfectly.

I'm going to have to neglect my day job for a few days, but I'm sure they will understand. I don't have contracted hours, just reponsibilities. I mostly over-deliver (insecurity ftw), so I'm sure I have a
bit
of goodwill in the bank, so to speak.
Loads, and then some.
Really sorry to hear about this Tony, take whatever time you need.

You said that you had suffered a burst pipe and there was some "minor" flooding which I assumed was on the ground floor. It was only when you were leaving that you mentioned that water was coming through a light-fitting which made me realize that it might have been slightly more serious than you had originally intimated. You did look a little uncomfortable and unusually antsy which I assumed was your "farmer Giles" giving you a bit of gip.
It did not affect your appetite mind you, you certainly are a "good doer" as a mutual friend might say.
5-1, 6-1, that was the fateful day that we played Stepanovs( a promising young defender up until that game which became a downhill watershed if there is such a thing) and Grimandi( a utility midfielder/emergency defender who is now our chief scout in France and has been for quite a few years) in central defence due to a surfeit of injuries.
After-timing I know but I always shuddered when I heard that Grimandi, who was a very decent midfielder, was to play in central defence.
Why didn't you ask me for the loan of a torch ffs?

You do yourself a disservice Ralph. A "Good doer" is one who gets fat on poor quality fodder, and I'm sure that description doesn't fit your Christmas dinner.
On the other hand, it fits Tony to a T.

A terrible experience Tony.If I might make a suggestion - Hire a private Loss Assessor and let him/her deal with the insurance claim for you. They will claim for things you wouldn't dream of and save you a fortune in putting it all right. It will also happen much quicker than if you deal with the Insurance company yourself. I had a major amount of damage to my factory some years ago. They little bar-stewards poured liquid printing ink into everything - 14 machines and printing presses and all through the offices. We had a new office up and running in 24 hours and all down to the Loss Assessor our accountant hired on our behalf.
Hope it all goes well for you.

But I felt good, & I needed to take a break from fretting & stuff, so it worked for me. What I never anticipated was I'd be there so late, & it was about 4.15am when I eventually left Luton. £800 better off, & very tired.
You run good Tikay...
It was one of THE weirderst Tourney's I've ever played in. You could not make it up.
I could write reams & reams about what happened at Luton last night, it was that weird. Really, really, fascinating to observe human nature at the poker Table. I'd quite like to write a book about those sort of things, or at least a few articles.
I shared Tables with positively THE worst player I've ever seen in my life, (no, not Chompy), some nice peeps, a pair of blatant colluders, plus several actors & Oscar nominees. I hope I find time to write about it, it was awesome.
I enjoyed sharing a table with you on Sunday, albeit fairly briefly. It sounds like a lot of the excitement may have occurred before I arrived, but I certainly enjoyed, and was entertained by, my spell there.
You were in good spirits and nobody would guess you had troubles at home. As a "glass half full" person myself, I admire your positivity!
Nb.. Luton's Kenny Prazer (a recent finalist at DTD), works as a loss assessor I believe (or maybe a loss adjustor). Either way he may be able to offer some advice.

Well you're a braver man than I TK!!!!
Being a prolific hoarder of ocd proportions I actually came out in a cold sweat at the thought of indiscriminately chucking 38yrs worth of 'stuff'...very well done..though it'll be interesting the first time you try to 'find' something, only to find there is nothing to look though ;o)
2011...out with the old and in with the new...all decisions are yours now and you can plan for your own future without someone bothering you with what colour sofa to get...
Enjoy xx

A most frustrating day today.
Ached from tip to toe when I woke up, & struggled to get out of bed.
Got to the Office, only to find my Security Pass would not admit me to the Campus. I'm "not very good" with obstinate authority first thing in the morning, & went off on a bit of a diva-rant. Went back & & made my peace later, just as well - when I went across to do a Pre-Record at 6pm, my "new" Pass failed, too.
Spent all day fiffing & faffing with all sorts of negative stuff - sorting out "awkward" entries for Newcastle SPT, that sort of thing. Needs to be done, but no positive payback. I prefer to do more creative things.
The Restaurants here - which are quite splendid - are "cashless", we use our Security Pass to pay for food, & we can "load" our Pass with money via a little machine. My Pass has about £80 on it, but because it had technically failed this morning, it would not work in the Restaurant. So when I went to pay for my piping hot meal, I got turned away. So I had to "load" my one-day Security Pass to enable me to pay for the dinner. And I only had a £50 note......so my one day Guest Pass will expire at Midnight tonight, & with it, most of the £50 I deposited on it....
Then I got involved in some silliness on the Forum. "Rise above it" my instincts were telling me, but no, I rose to the bait, & that's an afternoon of my life I'll never get back. My own faulty, totally.
Still, I totally nailed the half-hour Pre-Record, & I'm quite pleased with that. "Solo Shows" are new to me, & quite demanding, so I gave myself a tick for at least getting something right today.
The Live Show starts at 8pm, & I'm doing it with Rich Orford. I have to say, if you thought my Xmas was bad, his was worse - far worse. A shame, he's such a genuine guy. Life is not always fair, but it usually turns out for the best. Chin up, Rich.
I'll reply to the earlier Posts soonest, & the PM's.

RIP WordPress Blogs?
The FT reports the stunning growth of "tumblr." Blogs, which enjoyed 55 million uniques last month, & more page views than all the WordPress Blogs combined.
Can anyone tell me about "tumblr."?
I'm keen to take a look at it for business purposes, but it must have good SEO, & not be behind any sort of paywalls.
OK, gotta go, Orford is tapping his toes. He might be a great guy, but he's a shocking diva.

Ralph is THE most splendid cook.
We have beef, which he gets from an old-fashioned Family Butcher in Nottingham.
When Ralph is cooking, it's a sight to behold. He fiffs & faffs, smells the food, prods it, bastes it, tastes it, seasons it, warms the Yorkshire Pudding dish (you have to warm the dish, apparently) da de da.
Eventually the great moment arrives - the beef is done. Now a peculiar thing happens & Ralphy swears this makes sense.
When he gets the meat out of the oven, he insists it has to "relax". I kid you not. I enquired, of course. "It's all stressed when it finishes cooking Tony, & it will be tough, but if you let it relax, it unwinds, & goes beautifully tender". Eh?
Hot, almost smoking oil for Yorkshires; resting is to let the tensed, heated muscles "let go". Ralph knows the business, I am sure it tasted wonderful. You need cooking lessons.

I guess you're referring to hosted wordpress accounts, rather than including self-hosted wordpress blogs? Even so, yes tumblr has grown rapidly.
