True, the superbowl is beyond massive in the US.

Yes, certainly, but do you not find the 27 year gap between 3rd & 2nd a little odd?

I buy "2011 Superbowl biggest ever audience", but the overall top 3 stat looks sussy to me.

Probably to do with their being much fewer telly channels 27 years ago. According to Wiki the Mash finale had a massive 79.2% of all households watching it. the only thing I can think of that's bigger in the states in the superbowl.

Yes......so the TV audience was bigger in those days, Telly was the thing then, it was pre-mass-internet, remember, & with fewer channels, it compresses the audience figures.

So how come, all of a sudden, 27 years later, with TV viewing in steep decline due to a whole plethora of changing social habits, & TV channels by the thousand, the 2010 & 2011 Superbowls suddenly top that?

The more I think about it, the less I believe it.

Yes, HUGE Superbowl audiences, no doubt about that. But that huge, all of a sudden?

I saw a debate about it somewhere else, a bit of a heavy Forum, & the logic for the oddly high figures in '10 & '11 was the massive acceleration of Online betting, & in-running betting.

Does anyone have access to Gaming Industry estimates for the amount wagered on last week's Superbowl, versus the weekly norm?

I'd guess that it was the Black Eyed Peas half-time show. 

Didn't see it, but going from the comments on twitter at the time it didn't sound like it was an award-winning performance.

Half time shows aren't much better than ok anyway, but the BEP were beyond painful...and I'd been looking forward to them too.  Tikay would have had heart failure for sure.

I think moaning is a forum thing but even the hate mob over on Betfair have been wishing James well. A bit ironic seeming that many of his TV appearances or his written pieces were met with ridicule and spite on the Betfair forum.

James is an "outside the box" thinker and he has theories about why x, y or z happened in a race. I've worked with James on numerous American racing shows, including Kentucky Derbys and Breeders Cup & he is great fun.

He's also is (or was) an excellent poker player too. He loves the maths angle of it and I believe he had a very successful time playing cash online a couple of years back.

Diet going well, seem to be marooned on 12st-13lbs, but it just needs patience & discipline. Or in my case, stubborn refusal to accept defeat.

Bit of a disaster this morning, my "smartphone" (a Desire HTC) has seemingly "wiped" all my Messages. I had hundreds of them, & I can't bear to Delete them.  Bit like my house disaster at Xmas though, maybe it's forced me to throw away stuff I'll never look at. Anyway, they have all gone, bugger, even my daily Diet Weigh-In records from Day One.

Stuff wiped includes promises to buy half my action in Tourneys I played, & never got paid for. Going back several years, the last was 3 years ago I think, & I kind of kept it as proof of the offer, but I suppose I was never going to get the money, so best lost in some ways. Jeez, I hate thieves & grimmers with a vengeance, but some peeps are born without a shame gene I think.

There were all sorts of other text "records" of stuff that I wanted to keep, though, including some pretty risque personal stuff, so maybe it's best I have lost them all, as if I ever lost the 'phone, some bugger would have a field day at my expense. So maybe a good thing, who knows?

I may now have to get Maria to sort that for me, it looks a bit complicated. I'm assuming I have to connect my 'phone to a PC to do it? With wires or cables, or something? No idea where I'd get them from, that's the prob.

Or are we saying I connect via the internet on the 'phone itself, & it all does it automatically?

It tok Maria an age to transfer them all across from my previous 'phone, & she's like an internet whizz, so this could be daunting.

Oddly, she has just got her own "Desire" smartphone, & is like a kid with a new toy. I told her I'd teach her how to use it properly.
