Back to DTD last week, & an insight to how we all see & think differently, thank goodness.

4 or 5 of us were chewing the cud, & somehow, the subject of "The Crow" came up.

5 people expressed 5 totally different views. All decent people, holding absolutely diametrically opposed views.

These ranged from "how & why can you possibly object to someone so harmless, just because you don't like his Posting style?" to "he should be shot", "he is a Premiership troll & knows exactly what he is doing", & "it's just a poker forum, ignore him if you don't like his Posts".

Diversity of opinion ftw.

Today's google alerts are just in, I have 5 or 6 for business reasons, all Sky Poker related. Here was the "tikay" one.

my cat, Tikay, normally very very finicky about food, suddenly stopped getting excited when it was dinner time. Instead she sat on the chair all day, curled up, sleeping, and I actually had to go and get her and bring her to the food. I have a second cat, Suki,in the house who is a food hogger, stealer etc. so I usually put Tikay in the hallway with the door closed so she can eat in peace. Unfortunately, Tikay also tends to eat too fast and also tends to vomit when that happens.

In WSOP news, I got this from Seth Plansky earlier this week, & the Application is in, & acknowledged, already. Happy days.

We have officially opened media credentialing for the 2011 WSOP.

Please do NOT procrastinate this year getting an application filled out.  We would much rather go through the work of having you vetted and a credential created for you, then having to tell you it is too late to apply or get credentials.

The first bracelet event starts the day after Memorial Day this year, on Tuesday, May 31.  Please note we don’t process new applications once the WSOP has started, so please plan accordingly.

Looking forward to seeing you all soon enough…we’re 91 days away!

Seth

Get a Power Monkey. I'd post the link but I'm on via the phone.

Effectively it's a power storage device, holds charge for a long time and recharges phones, ipods, laptops et al. Avoids the need to find a power socket to plug your charger into, and is easier to transport.

Never travel without mine.

Wow, that may be the answer.

Which of the particular products is the one I would need? See.....

https://powertraveller.com/

From where could I purchase one? I don't like buying stuff Online if I can help it.

Excellent! Thanks.

I think this is the one you need Tone. I think I'm gonna get me one.

https://powertraveller.com/iwantsome/primatepower/powermonkeyclassic/

Thnks Tom. I can't see if it will fit an HTC Desire though?

If so, can you do me a favour, & order one for me too, please? I'll pick it up from you at your place, or when we next see each other.

If it fits an HTC Desire, I'm well pleased with that.

Good spot, David.

It comes with all the various adaptors TK. So will do all phone types plus Ipod/Ipad etc.

Got one last year and can be a godsend

The WSOP Media Accreditation Rules are a minefield, & get more difficult by the year. To a point, quite understandable, paying heed to their "Official Updating Partners", such as PokerNews, who pay a fortune, one assumes, for the rights.

Two new Rules this year......

The most notable change this year is that we will limit media access to an individual poker table to no more than five minutes every half hour.  So, if you are following a particular player, this will be problematic for you.  But for the integrity of the tournament and security of our players and staff, we must enforce this new rule.

Another new rule involves talking to players at the table.  There will be a zero tolerance policy in effect this year.  While you will be free to talk to players during breaks, conversations are strictly prohibited whenplayers are seated at a poker table. Please note, this prohibition will be strictly enforced regardless of whether a player is in a hand or not. This rule includes any manner of verbal or non-verbal communications with any player competing in any event.

The latter of those will be a real stonker. It may be partly due to that bit of nonsense in Cannes late last year, I guess.

Sky Poker expect to have 8 or 10 Main Event players who have qualified, & I tend to go have a quick "how many chips, how you doing?" natter with them every half-hour or so. Now I cannot even speak to them at the Table, & I guess they'll need to step away from the Table. I can see the reasons, & I understand up to  point, but it is what it is.

If you fall foul of Media Guidelines, they don't mess about, either. I get on incredibly well with Seth, & Nolan Dalla, but they operate a "Yellow Card/Red Card" system, & I've managed a yellow every single year.

We have filmed little pieces out the back (Car-Parlk) entrance for 5 or 6 years now, where the Red Carpet is, & we do it at about 10am, when nobody is around, or in the Corridor. Both are now banned, & we can only film in a dedicated Room, in front of an advertising "wall". Which would be OK, but you have to queue to find a spot, & the acoustics in there are horrendous.

In the CardRoom itself, we are permitted 5 minutes per day, & we have to be escorted by a "Guard", who carries a stopwatch! We work 14 or 16  hour shifts, the Guards work 6 or 8 hour shifts, so we used to be able to fiddle a second 5 minutes, but now a Register has to be filled in, & we can't even do that.

Shame, really, but all for good reason I suppose.

If the restrictions get any tighter, my job will become impossible, &  may as well play the Event myself, to provide material & content for next door. Not sure I'd get the expnses claim, with a $10k Tourney ticket on, through the system, somehow, though.

Oh wise one, as ever, Neil.

Beware, you are on my "things to Post" list. Most revealing, too.

I believe an Updater & a player were colluding, the Updater stood behind somene else who lifted his cards & the Updater could see them, & he was giving body language messages to his mate. Or somesuch.

There was a thread on blonde about it, everyone got quite excited about it, but I'd not know how to find it. Even money that one of the hardcore poker types finds it in seconds.

Inbound from Miss Mason.

I believe blonde are trying to gain permission to Update this, too (Tighty, confirm?), & Team Sky Poker excpect to have 5 or 6 runners in the Main, so I'll be there, & Blandy, as well. Updates galore.

The Fessie is 10 or 12 days, & incredibly, I cannot play a single Event due to Diary clashes. That's a few bob earned & a few bob saved, then. Positive Double whammy.
I have some "interest" in a player though, & he never lets me down at The Vic.

Nice fessie, too, well done Grosvenor.

Capital Gains! GUKPT Leg 2 Comes to Grosvenor Victoria Casino 9th-20th March

The second leg of the 2011 Grosvenor UK Poker Tour is about to land in London, featuring a bumper £1,500 Main Event with side events to match.  Always one of the most popular stops on the tour, the Grosvenor Victoria will welcome up to 200 players per start day for the Main Event (plus alternates for the first three levels).  Last year this leg boasted a prize pool of nearly half a million pounds, and 2010 Champion Cuong Tran walked away with the trophy and £127,800.

This year changes to the side events bring in the popular £250 Short Handed Freezeout (15th March) and £200 Dealer’s Choice Event (19th March), as well as a one-off £300 Bounty Freezeout to end the festival with a bang.  Please visit the Events tab on the GUKPT website for full information on structure, clock etc. for each event.

Satellites are running on https://www.gcasino.com/poker, as well as live at the Vic.  In addition to the regular ten-seat-guaranteed Re-buy Super Satellite on the 9th March, there will be two chances to win entry to the Main Event via £250 Freezeouts on the 16th and 17th March.
