Two Pandas – nicknamed “Sunshine” & “Sweetie” (sigh, why does everyone have to dumb things down these days?) arrived in Edinburgh Zoo over the weekend, apparently huge crowds were there to greet them. (“Hello Sunshine, how are you?”).
I’m not sure why, but I find this rather exciting, & I intend to go see them. Edinburgh Zoo is quite splendid, in every way, & given the constraints (whoops) of a Zoo, I think they do a fine job.
I could jump a train from London, stay overnight in ‘Ol Reeky, & return next day, probably cost the equivalent of 2 x DTD Monthly deepie entries. A no-brainer, these opportunities don’t come round so often. Am gonna do it.
What would you have gone for?
Spot & Patch?
Bam & Boo?
Chen Duxiu & Jung Chang?

Great idea, I presume you're going to wait until Dec 16th when they're actually on show to the public....
No, I plan to wait until January, too much in the Diary already for December, & that'll alow time for the early crowds to dwindle a little.

What was your apostrophe doing there anyway? It's there to show the omission of a letter, so it would have been Ol' not 'Ol.

Something a tad more cultured, maybe "the male" & "the female".
It grates with me when I watch wildlife Shows, & they have to name all the featured animals, even birds. The Shows are not targeted at 3 year olds, as far as I know.

They give all the animals names at zoos. I thought you were suggesting they be named like pedigree dogs, such as "Purston Hit and Miss From Brocolitia" and "Brookewire Brandy of Layven"...

Or maybe they should take a leaf out of the racehorse breeders book....

Only be uncultured owners.
Badly-named racehorses rarely excel.
