Post the HH and let us decide.
Well by us I mean lildave
Lol, I would not have the first idea how to Post a HH!
It was not the greatest play pre, but not the worst ever. Even us nits allow ourselves a little gamble now & then.
There was some background - it was 50p-£1, & I usually sit there quietly, play position, & good starting hands, but I had somehow done a full £100 pull-up on the very first hand of the night, so I guess I was chasing a bit, & I was playing much more aggro than normal.
The Button to my SB & Scotty's BB had been very active, so I took a stand, Scotty in the BB then Potted it, geezer re-pots, & I'm thinking one of them has a-A-x-x, I have a good lump of £ in already, let's gamble.
The old blood pressure shot up, & I suffered minor leakage when I flopped good, may even have shouted "HOLD" at the screen, but I've now settled back into the comfort of nitsville again.
It was worth it to see the abuse I got though. Oooohhhhh.....

This thread is like one of those park benches with the suspicious-looking stains that you wipe clean with your hanky before sitting down. You want to spend some time here, but you're afraid of becoming contaminated.

Apologies to my readers for that brief interruption of poker talk. It won't happen again.

We've covered a good bit of ground today, including.....
Ladbrokes
8 Ferraris in a road crash.
F1
Mote GP
Going motor racing & motorbike racing as a teenager.
Where Jason's first child was conceived.
Pearl Harbor.
The "penis" answer, & why folks think stuff like that is funny.
A hand of poker.
Meanwhile, Tom's Diary has been all bridges, & how cement is pumped.

I almost made a comment which mentioned pumping and the conception of Jason's first child in the same sentence, but I decided that it would be too crass, even for this place....

I have to say I'm enormously interested in the events at Pearl Harbour. How wonderful to have been to the place and seen it for yourself.
When I learn about these huge, world-changing events, it's always the little individual stories that capture my imagination and make it real for me.
I can't for instance grasp the enormity of all those people dying in the tsunami, but it all comes to life when you see it through the eyes of one person.
I spent some time talking to a Holocaust survivor a couple of years ago, and it was one of the most moving experiences of my life.
Apparently there are still some Pearl Harbour veterans alive and kicking.

don't think I've ever had any money on laddies but I get that email every now and again. do they think the best way to get me to deposit is to let me know that they plan to steal my money? it baffles me
It baffles me, too, but we can't be too critical in a one sided debate, we don't know their thinking, their focus. I've been a very patient Ladbrokes shareholder for the best part of 30 years, & I'm hoping that eventualy, "tomorrow" will come.
Make no mistake, the business is fine, the Brand is solid, even though Group revenues are a tad down y-o-y. Still, the Online Gaming market is exploding with growth right now.
Poker is a tinsy winsy piece of their overall business, though. Overall Group Revenue for 6 months was close to £500 million. They are a shade down on the same time last year, but they still return an operating profit of nearly 17% on that £500 million.
Poker's part in that? Here's what the 6 month report said.......
Poker net revenue fell 30.8% during the period to £7.4 million. The number of actives in the first half fell by 21.3% with customer yields down 11.3%
.
So it's absolute peanuts in context of the business, & I can't help think they've given up on it, Management time is better spent on more productive & rewarding areas of their business.
Their 6 month results are here.....
http://www.ladbrokesplc.com/~/media/Files/L/Ladbrokes/results-presentations/2011/interim-results2011.pdf
The whole thing baffles me. This aside, they are professionalism personified as far as customer service goes, and I think their software is the second best available.
I can cite half a dozen instances where they have gone above and beyond what anyone could reasonably expect to keep me happy, and if that has meant writing a few ££ off, that hasn't been a problem.
Yeah Ladbrokes was the first site I ever played and I still play there now on the rare occasions that I do fancy playing. Was a huge shame they gave up their independence and migrated to the Micro network and came under that umbrella as since then it's just been downhill.
The community on the old Ladbrokes was 2nd to none and my dad ran several tournaments off the back of it at his club down in Dorchester. It was only a £30rebuy but the likes of Skalie, Sealey, Actionjack, John Tabatabai and many other Laddies regulars who Tom will remember used to travel for. I even had friends come from Tenerife and Sweden such was the community on the site back then.
Even now the customer service is still good as you can deal directly with them and not having to go through Micro. I've been to Vegas with them and their events team and hospitality is just great. Killarney every year is probably the only thing I look forward to almost as much as Vegas and it will be a shame if this year is the last year as has been indicated.
They sponsor another forum I post on where they are forever adding things to little forum comps and bending over backwards to help members out with transferring packages or setting up things. At the moment some of the members are running a hi-lo league to send a couple members to Vegas for the $1500 hilo event next year. Ken Mackie has set it all up for them and even in running has been tweaking it in order to make it player friendly throughout the whole league system. He has even done it completely rake free so Ladbrokes aren't making a penny from it.
Given how well the run from a personal touch perspective it's a shame to see the 'fine' emails going out and that the business seems to be falling apart. By the looks of things it's a case of when and not if they cease operations as no company that big is going to allow part of it to bleed money forever.......
Good times

That link is a wonderful story Tom, thank you.
What a wonderful tool the internet is, if properly used, eh? How much has it developed our understanding of life, & our education?
Many poorer parts of the world - deffo large swathes of Africa, for example, & I'm sure parts of South America, & Asia, still don't have much by way of internet, or even reliable electricity supply, but when the infrastructure starts to support the internet, the education gain will be immense.
I'm hopelessly addicted to it, & spend countless hours researching & reading stuff. But not wasted hours. I'd wager I have learned more in the last 5 years than in my entire life.

Yes, it was obv the Aces were out there, but the pre-flop Hand Dynamic - pot-pot-pot, with an aggro merchant either side of me (you & the Button) - mean't I was sort of value-stuck by the time I knew the score. I think it would probably have been a mistake to let go then, but that's not to say it was wise to get it in. Just the way it played out, really. K-K-J-7 Double Suited - as long as I was not suit-dominated - when I'm getting 2/1 is not so bad. Not so good, either......
The geezer to your left - NOT involved in the hand - went apeshit, "one pair, K-K, you absolute donk, da de da", & chuntered on for ages. He eventually went busto when he got it in pre with A-K-8-3, no suits - pretty much as bad an Omaha starting hand as you can imagine, imo. He left the Table chuntering away like a good 'un.
The Button, who claimed to be 6-Tabling on 'Stars at the same time, contained himself to "wtf?". He had earlier asked me - because I have a "personalised" Avatar - "are you new here, not seen you here before?".
"Well, been here a few weeks or so" I replied.
"Enjoy it mate, it's a nice site" he replied. Quite so......
Anyway, what was you doing playing O? - was the NLH action a bit thin last night? The Site has been as busy as it has ever been for the last week or so, record-breaking numbers again, as we head for the busiest time of the year. Happy days.
You coming to Newcastle this weekend? And the terrible twins?

Talking of action Tables, there is a £1 £2 Heads Up Table on the go, as I write, (9am) where the max pull-up is £200.
There is just shy of £5,000 on the Table!
And no, I'm not on the Table.....

Funny how you've given getting it in with double suited kings 3 way more than 5 seconds of thought.
If you were playing a game that you were rolled for, like 10K hu plo then u could stress about it.
Til then don't worry.
