I was just looking up the new BBC series on the lost kingdoms of South America that starts on Monday on BBC4, which seems certain to be really excellent.
But I think you may prefer this...
http://www.bbc.co.uk/bbcfour/collections/p01277qd/steam-railways
Several hours of programming about Steam Railways. It isn't my cup of tea, but sure it will be right up your street.
May give the West Highlander and India ones a spin in the week.

I came thru Kings X today Tony and was a little surprised to find they have a platform 9 3/4 there now. What amazed me even more was there were around 50 adults queueing up to have their photo taken there and a guy that looked like an adult Potter was running it.
wtf?

oops, I haven't been thru there for a while . What annoyed me the most was platform 9 3/4 was easier to find than platform 1, if I had known I would have to walk that far I would have got sponsored.

I travel through KC about once a week. The changes they made for the Olympics are a disaster if you´re in a hurry.

It is a bit messy isn't it mate, the cherry on the cake was one of the teams I bet today was Stevenage DNB, the 17.03 train went thru Stevenage and on got a shed load of Donny fans so I got to hear 15 versions of the 94th minute winner too!
The second biggest cheer was for Sheff Utd getting beat.

I saw something special today on the PGA Tour Tony.
A young guy called Russell Henley who finished last season with 2 wins a 3rd and a 6th in his last 4 events on the Web.com tour won on the PGA Tour today in his first event, the Sony Open. He broke a load of event records and finished off his 4th round with 5 consecutive 1 putt birdies.
Remember the name, he looks to have some future.

I don't suppose our Sponsor would be overly thrilled if I linked to a Blog on Black Belt Poker.
So, if you get a moment, do try & have a read of Neil Channing's latest Blog.
No hand histories, no strategy talk, but some wonderful observational poker chunterings from his recent Live Poker experiences.
I BET you recognize some of the stereotypes hmentions, too.
I shared a table with Neil at bristol. I was doing ok, right up until I gave him most of my stack. I missed most of the people he was talking about as I was gone by then, though I do remember seat 2 seemed to take forever to make a decision, even.if.it was just folded round to him in mid position. Guaranteed 45 seconds to a minute to look at his cards, look around at stack sizes, look at players for tells, then fold. Just no need for it. Neil soon put him straight though, and it helped him I think. Then he got moved, just as he had managed to break the 30 seconds to act record.

A friend of mine (Non league football geek) has a bird and wildlife blog, pics from his hide....
http://mickfreakley.blogspot.co.uk/
your sort of stuff I think....
I would so love to do that.
A very good friend of mine does not believe in "hides" or the like, he prefers to photograph what he sees, as he sees it, sort of natural, like. Then he goes home, processes it through some weird software, crops it, changes the hues & colours, edits bits out, & hey presto, there you have it, the real thing. Sort of. Ish.

Too sharp, Geo, too sharp.
How was Xmas in Edinburgh?
Did you get the grandkids out & about?
Do they celebrate New Years Eve up in those parts? You know, like, properly?
Xmas was a wee bit quieter as both Grandkids went to their other grandparents for Xmas day, can't complain as we have had them every year before.
Spent a whole day at the Xmas wonderland with the grandaughter just before xmas and had a ball, though very costly. Ice skating, a shot on each ride and then £5 odds for a burger.
Family day at Jenners today and we gave them choices for holidays in the summer
Sun and Sand
Motorhome, travelling to pre chosen places to visit/walk
Chalet/cabin either in Lake district or the Highlands
Was chuffed when the kids chose either chalet/cabin or motorhome
(kids these days, really know what side the bread is buttered eh.)
New Year is generally a non starter for so many of us up North these days. Mrs and I sat watching the Castle fireworks from the spare room window with a good brew (loose tea.) Then it was off to bed
Best wishes for 2013
Geo
Good stuff Geo.
Kids are what their parents or grandparents are, they are so easily influenced at that age. You must be very proud of them.
Health & contentment to you & yours too in 2013.

Oh my, what a find that link is Doobsy, thank you!
I'll start with the GWR one, & then the West Highland affair.

wtf?
That luggage trollet seemingly half-embedded in the wall has been there for some years Phil, though it was relocated recently.
It even has websites dedicated to it.
If you google Image "Kings Cross Platform 9 3/4" there are literally thousands of photos of it.
Use predictive text when you look it up, & you only need type "Kings Cross pl" & it pops up immediately.
The weird thing is until it was discussed here, I never had even the remotest idea it was connected with Harry Potter books, as I don't read fiction or childrens books.
I actually thought it was some Art nonsense, even guessed it may have been by that Tracey Someone woman, you know, the dirty looking one did that unmade bed thing. I'd never have guessed is was Harry Potter related in a lifetime.

Duly noted.
Seems a good looking kid, with a special gift for golf.
What a life he has ahead of him if he keeps his nose clean. Play golf for a living, earn a few bob, travel the world, visit beautiful places, play on glorious golf courses.
Living the dream, good luck to him.

Well I'm glad you read Neil's Blog, I thought it was beautifully observed stuff. He writes so well on these things, as does Miss Coren, aka Mrs Williams.
Strange though how precious we, as poker players, have become about these minor irritations, these trivialities, I find it all quite intriguing as to "why?"
There was a thread about "Etiquette" yesterday, & it ran to 4 pages, & a chap who had beeen a bit of a bore by asking (as was his right) to see an opponents losing hand got villified & some folks got really angry. It was not a very nice thing to do, but, you know, sense of perspective & all that, it was incredible how uppity people get about these little things. I guess we must lead wonderfully untroubled lives.
A chap I recently met - & who was thoroughly splendid & respectful company - Posted on that thread, his blonde name is "rfqqqbkterssgyxzz", real name Adam, & he seemed to me to be a really likeable & well-balanced young man. He Posted this......
"
A guy in my local game admitted to me on a drunk night out he only asked to see my hands to piss me off!
It is easily the most tilting thing I've experienced
."
I had to read it 4 or 5 times, to make sure I had read it right.
What a strange breed we poker players are.
