To clarify, Barny is, I think, 57.
Definitely old, that.
The standard of play at poker tables these days is measured by how many "old blokes" are present. Barny must be feeling very smug this morning.

Any limit shizzling to report?
Was the game as enjoyable as PLO8 for you?
Off the top of my head and without consulting Ray Zee (made up name ldo) I would have thought that the best strategy was to play even tighter at the limit form of the game as so many hands are going to stay in that might not in PLO8.
Have to report, in the shizzling department, we were a non-runner yesterday.
After getting up to 26,000 early, it all went tiddley poo.
We went very card dead, & then we were looking for a spot. And this is where I struggle with LIMIT, I honesty don't know how you impose yourself on a game, or Table, when the betting gets capped.
I enjoyed it muchly, yes, but I have not yet cracked the secrets of Limit Poker, thats for sure. I agree "tight is best", but you still need occasional hands. I had a card rush at the start, when it barely matters, but at the business end, nothing, nada, zero.
Was it as enjoyable as PLO? No, not at all. It WAS enjoyable. Poker in Downtown Vegas, no matter WHAT format, is always enjoyable, if you don't enjoy Downtown Poker, it is time to quit the game, but I much prefer, by a factor of lots & lots, Pot Limit. For me, even in Hold Em, Pot Limit has always been the nuts. I can hold my own nicely in any form of Pot Limit, within reason, but Limit, I just can't get my head round it.
Had some incredible Table company though (more follows), and a little sparrow.

Downtown
is it busy busy, outside the card-rooms?
In these days of the strip providing all the glitz and glamour and a lot of the top facilities and expansion of the city elsewhere, are the Downtown hotels still busy?
How big is downtown?
(never been there, hence the questions)

Investors Update.
Yesterday, sadly, was the penultimate Tournament on the package.
I can barely believe it is nearly all over, it flew by in a trice.
All we have left is a $240 PLO @ Caesars on Wednesday, a 40,000 chip affair I believe.
Still, it means we have turned a small profit again, as we did last year. I'll try & work the numbers out shortly (or ask Mere to) but I think we have spent around $8,500, & assuming we blank Wednesday, we have cashed for just over $11,000, so thats OK. That includes the $3k WSOP, which was NOT part of the original package, but which everyone consented to be added.
There is a $365 PLO @ Rio on Tuesday, part of the "Carnevale of Poker" fessie, which I think I'll play. It was never part of the Schedule, & I'm not sure how to proceed with it in that regard. I'm sure most would agree to adding it to the schedule, as we are in profit overall, but I'm not abso sure that would be right & proper without stakers prior approval. Happy to take views on board. It is a 2 day Event, so I suppose I could even drop the Ceasars event on Wednesday & play the Tuesday Rio thing instead for an extra $100. Anyway, we have a few days to mull that over.

I did hear that those "carnivale" tourneys were charging an obscene amount of juice Tony, something like 25% iirc.

Today, at Golden Nugget, I intend to play, wait for it, a $240 LIMIT Stud 8 HL Tourney.......
I have probably played 100 hands of Stud Hi Lo in my entire life, always during DC games at Luton or DTD.
As a Pot Limit game, I'm OK with it, OK rather than competent I'd say, but as it is LIMIT, this is genuinely setting fire to money.
So, it would seem to me that it is best if this is NOT added to the schedule.
All the fessies are ending now, & there are, literally, no more PLO8 Tourneys remaining. Boo!
Would love to come back in November, if there is any O8 stuff scheduled, & do the whole thing again. The existing team of investors would all have first dibs on a bit of the action.
Meanwhile, there is the little matter of the Main Event to start thinking about. To say I am bricking it would be an understatement. $10,000, jeez, that is SO much money.

No idea Ralph.
I did hear some noise about it from Team Moan & Groan, so I'd better take a look I suppose.
As a general rule, most of the Tourneys here have 15% or 20% Juice I believe?

Just checked. The vig included in the Rio Carnevale $365 Tourney is $65.
That'd cause an outcry in the UK, (though most folks would still play, obv) but although a tad on the high side, I think 15% to 17.5% is quite normal in Vegas, no?

Include any new PLO tournaments in the schedule by default.
I've had communication on Facebook from knottikay (who was unable to post on this thread) that he was in for any changes.
TRIP5 has indicated the same on this thread.
I would like to be included in any new tournaments too.

Yes, but my point was, it is normal over here for heavy vig, & though this one is higher than most, it does include around $100,000 of "house funded" (their words, not mine!) "Leaderboard Prizes".
When in Vegas & all that. Just the way things are here.

OK, will do, thanks. Knottikay did communicate that to me via e-Mail, but I am a bit behind with my Admin right now. Distractions ftw.
