Am I right in saying Vicky Coren gave the Hendon Mob their nicknames in a newspaper or magazine article? Or have I just made that up?

Not heard that before, but it sort of fits, Vicky has always been very close to, & onside with, the THM boys, & she still contributes articles to the Site, or I think she does.
I'd SO love Vicky to be a regular here, she is one of that rare group of poeple who you always want to read anything they write. I think she conducts herself as a PokerStars Pro in exemplary fashion, too, &, Danny apart, she is easily the pick of the bunch for me.

A Southwest Airlines 737 had a bit of a problem landing at Le Guardia last night.
It is unclear if a hard landing broke the nosewheel (unlikely), or whether the gear failed (also unlikely).
Nobody was injured, though USA Media reports several passengers suffered from "anxiety attacks", presumably in readiness to sue someone for a few million bucks.
The PPRuNe thread is here....

Love this diary.
Ha!
You are a man of fine, but weird, tastes, Ian.
How did that lad of yours turn out so bad?
PS - thank you.
Now now! Mr Gascoigne Jr went to the fourth highest ranked college in the finest academic institution in the world (well, behind Sheffield obv - gotta play to the masses, see?):
Tompkins Table 2013 - top 10 colleges
The table ranks colleges on a points system with five points for a first, three for a 2:1, two for a 2:2 and one for a third. (2012 position) % score [% Firsts].
1 (1) Trinity, 73.66% [41.7%]
2 (4) Pembroke, 70.85% [33.7%]
3 (8
) Trinity Hall, 68.94% [28.1%]
4 (2) Emmanuel, 68.72% [30.5%]
5 (5) Churchill, 68.17% [28.3%]
6 (7) Jesus, 67.47% [27.1%]
7 (12) Queens', 66.89% [26.3%]
8 (9) Christ's, 66.76% [24.7%]
9 (10) St Catharine's, 66.51% [26.9%]
10 (18) Peterhouse, 66.41% [27.8%]
I seem to remember the placings were a little different in 'our day', Tal...?
EDIT: In spite, rather than because, of my presence I must hasten to add.
When I was there in the early 90s, I think Emma was somewhere near the bottom of the Tompkins Table. Christs was the academic hothouse at that time.
Weirdly enough, when I left we started to gravitate to the top and spent several years in either 1st or 2nd place.

Tilting trains.
Best part of that was.....
The train was sent on its way after a delay of just eight minutes, the paper said.

How do these guys monetise a browser?
As you perceptively note, the company lappies all default to IE.
It's simple really, through advertising partnerships.
Firefox defaults to Google as its search engine (and even default start page). People do searches, people click on Google Adwords, Google makes shed-loads, gives some to Mozilla.
Chrome does the same.
IE defaults to Bing (as it would). Same story, this time Microsoft gets the PPC-advertising revenue, of which some is filtered back to the IE section of Microsoft.
This is one of the reasons Google went all out with the development of Android and sought out a large market-share of mobile. Think of all that mobile advertising revenue...

I think the moniker " elegance " should definitely be rescinded after I found him perusing the big brother thread the other day. Still it must be a better moniker than " The Milkman ", that is just a rubbish one.
