Out of time for now, so I'll just Post one hand for the moment, the rest of the Master Butchery will follow later.
We are in Level 2, I'm settled down, not shaking or anything. Got everyone sussed, yeah baby.
I'm the Button, & there are FIVE Limpers, as per.
I have.....
Time to exhibit some skillz.
I make it 400.
Everyone calls, obv.
Flop......
Ooh. Like.
Checked to me. Pot.
All fold, bar one brave soul, who tanks for a bit, maybe considering a repot, but he eventually calls.
Turn is an offsuit Jack.
Check to me. POT. He can only have spades, I'm thinking?
River......
So.....
Bugger.
He sets me in. I fold, of course, (of course?) leaving me approx 4k from my 10k at start of hand.
He kindly shows.
No wonder he never folded! Flopped nut flush draw, turned top set, rivered the flush.
So, where did we go wrong, what could we do different?
As played, I think I have to try & get him off his draws, it was sort of inevitable that I'd do a chunk. Was quite surprised he played it so passive pre though. Was really shocked when I saw his actual hand.
I suspect a chorus of "fold pre, next case" might now ensue. Can't disagree really. Guilty, with plea bargain incoming.
I just felt I could not sit there all night waiting for a hand whilst everyone was limping galore. I play 30 or 40 baby PLO8 SNG's Online every night, different thing entirely I suppose, but I can't be doing with that limping stuff. They play very shallow, of course, so I guess it's different.
So it was spin-up time now, & Beat The Clock, as I had 2 Levels to rebuild, or re-enter.
So I got my box of tricks out.

Ooh, tournament structure porn itt, great post by scotty, and and a great point made by doobs.
Someone go educate the rest of the poker community now please
Please, I don't want poker sorts in this thread, WE DO CONCRETE. You are OK though.
Hmmmm I found a concrete fact during my recent research, connected with an old gas holder structure - which looks an excellent venue for that young chap who was climbing and hanging off cranes and bridges in a recent documentary.
Will send a pic when I work out the way to.

Ha, not forgotten Ralph, but yesterday was really busy with non-blonde stuff.
They are not that exciting, either, but there were a couple of odd spots, I can tell you.
I listed all the faces, past & present, I bumped into, too, I'll list them. Exciting stuff.....

Regular readers, look away NOW, this may contain POKER content.
I chose the nut worst night to drive up to The Vic, with the Tube Strike in full flow, took me 2 & a half hours to drive the 13 miles.
I'm always a bit prickly - probably unreasonably - with Reception at The Vic, & I suppose my mood was not the best after that drive, & it was business as usual.
Went to Reception, & the convo went like this.....
Good Evening!
Name?
Kendall
First name?
Tony or Anthony?
I don't know, could be either, I first joined 12 years ago
Why do you have two names?
Bla bla, same name, long time ago......
She tip taps for 45 seconds.
Your name is Anthony, not Tony.
Thank you.
All this without so much as a smidgeon of eye contact, or a smile. Fair to say I am a little over-sensitive to this sort of thing, but I do think "front of house" is incredibly important, as are first impressions, & making Clients feel wanted.
Catching up slowly but this post made me full on laugh out loud and a friend (who unbelievably didn't know who TV's tony (Anthony) Kendall is

Tikay, Ive often wondered where you got your railway enthusiasm from but after reading your Fred post on the Dawlish Express now understand and appreciate how chuffed you would have been.
It brought back very happy memories from my childhood as many of my family on both mum and dads side were railwaymen.
Two of my uncles were drivers on the main west coast London Glasgow line and were drivers on both steam and then diesel.
As a young lad Id get taken down to Carlisle Citadel station by my Dad to see them when they were passing through. They were based in Glasgow and think that depending on what route they were on they sometimes changed at Carlisle or went down to Crewe and changed over, does that sound right?
I recall the thrill of standing on the footplate of a huge steam locomotive express wearing one of those flat railway mens caps. Im not sure what the locos were but I wonder if they could have driven the Queen Elizabeth and similiar.
My Grandad who I adored was also a main line driver but when I knew him had retired from BR possibly because of age (he was 60 in 1960) or maybe health and eyesight not up to BR standard and was a shunter driver at the Carlisle Gas Works.
My main recollections of him are probably from when I was 4 to 7 when he died.
I recall some seriously wonderful days when he took me to work on odd weekends and I got the chance to be around and 'drive' a working steam loco and after it was withdrawn its replacement diesel which was to me more fun. Obviously such would not be allowed in these health and safety conscious days although maybe I only got to go at the weekend when the bosses were not around and he could sneak me in.
Those days set up my childhood ambition of wanting to be a main line driver but sadly hopes were dashed very early for me as I was short sighted from around the age of 9 and short sightedness was a bar then to becoming a driver.
Since embarking on this memory lane Ive googled some images of what I believe were both 'his' locos plus some other stuff relating to concrete too :-).
Ill post them when I can figure out how to.
Good luck tonight.
I just wanted to say I have not forgotten this, and I WILL reply.
It set off so many memories, it deserves a full reply. Not many will realise why, but wow, that was quite a memory-tugger. Only now have I realised how important it was in my life that my Dad was a Steam Engine driver.
Bear with me please, & thank you.

I went on a bit of a journey last night, quite by accident.
Something jogged my memory, & I went off to google-land.
I'd just finished my poker session, & it was around midnight.
It was 4am by the time I'd finished.......

In the mostly excellent "whatever happened to?" thread, I almost Posted two names yesterday, then thought better of it.
On reflection, I realised something odd. This applies to many of you, too, but it is a bit weird.
The two names?.....

Marcus Bebb-Jones
Ron Fanelli, aka "The Mad Yank".
You get the connection, obviously.
Both are convicted murderers, & we shared Tables, laughs & jokes, with both.
In one case, after the Murder, in the other case, before.
You do meet some characters in this game.
Anyway, I wanted to refresh my memory on Mad Yank. He was a Member here for a while, but, inevitably, his style was a bit ott for us, & he was soon Banned as I recall.
His star shone more loudly than brightly for a while, back around 2004 - 2006, especially at Gutshot, where he was in his element, & also The Vic.
Bear with me, this is not going where you might think it is.....
