The lady is in Strictly this year. Anita Rani. She is dancing with the hideously, eye-wrenchingly, vomit-on-sight-ingly unattractive, Gleb Savchenko.

Evening Mr T, have found myself unexpectedly available so have decided to give the DTD DC comp a spin for the first time. Will likely be calling PLO8 all night as so rarely get to play it live. I'm happiest playing 456 PLO cash live but have always been wary of DC cash games, seem too swongy for a nit like me.
Anyway, currently using Google to find out the rules of Super Stud and Irish. Could be a short night.
How did you get on? It's a bit far for me, much as I adore Live Poker.
Luton is my nearest sensible option, but I've not been there for many a year, & it's hard to break the ice.
I mostly play online every night, amuse myself at no cost, & make a little money. Have to say, I've never enjoyed my poker - live or online - as much as I do at the moment. I can't wait to start my evening sessions, & I looked forward to last week's PLO @ DTD for, literally, weeks, counting down the sleeps. Never cashed, obv, but it was a close run thing. Report to follow, when I get round to it.
One of these might help, but you know how it is - if we had 24, 36 or 48 hours in a day, we'd still want more.
Think it's called Parkinson's Law.

I know you used to be a regular there Tikay and haven't been in a while but you must really try and get down. I was there last night and the place looks amazing as they put the finishing touches around the place. The poker room is certainly fit for purpose and once they get the air con working properly (freezing at the moment) I'm sure it will be a comfortable place to play. They even have an onsite betting shop (not staffed all the time, think it's automated machine) so if you are watching the sports and fancy a little gamble it's at your finger tips, of course no good for the value hunters like ourselves but another service nevertheless.
Had an interesting guy on my cash table last night, from the first hand was going all in with any 2, not missing anything when called so soon Upto £1000 and really running like God, ordering Krystal champagne and really enjoying himself, you can imagine how long the waiting list was, the guy was a bit of a dick though but I suppose we put up with that t get our hands on the stack in front of him and the other 8 pink ones sitting on the table to the side. unfortunately they insisted on closing the poker room at 4am just as things were getting really exciting, even a £50per hour offer to the dealer to stay on was no good, maybe people just do not want to earn money nowadays.
Anyway the GUKPT is on next week and I'm sure they have a PLO side event, maybe you could come down for that?
Yes, they have a 4/5/6 card PLO jobbie, & I'm 2 for 2 in those in GUKPT's I think. Played one at The Vic, started at 7pm, finished at 5am, incred value.
Not sure I'll be at Luton next week though. I'm sure a few of the regulars would give me a very warm welcoming committee, all things considered.
How are you getting on with your "improvement challenge" Next Door?

The Diary revival was going so well.......
I was unsure whether I should try & get it going again. I know you have some "issues" with your Diary right now, too. Both of us have spent useful (?) time trying to rev up blonde with new stuff elsewhere, rather than post it in a Diary that not so many read. I do love writing all this nonsense though.
In comparison to Lil Dave's Diary, where he wins or loses a six figure sum, & readers seem to LOVE that degeneracy, or Plinop, binking something every day & as he sets out to conquer the poker world before becoming England Football Manager, or Alex, gallivanting all over, Greeky strutting his stuff in Thailand, I feel a little coy at writing about a wonderful day at Royal Egham Show, looking at the "Nine Runner Bean" or "Five Tomato" exhibits. But to us, it was great.
I don't have the slightest interest in gardening, runner beans or tomatoes of course. But to see the pride these people have, to see a different culture from the hard-nosed poker world fascinates.
I'm meandering & reminiscing a bit today, you'll have to excuse me. Sort of "day off work", too. There is a reason, but I won't trouble you with it yet awhile.

robert redford plays bill bryson
My my, I might just have to give that a watch, though generally, it's best to leave the lovely image I have of Bill Bryson in my imagination.
So, talking of authors & books, I've read a few lately, so I'll review them shortly. One very good, one unbelievably bad.

Oh now come on Barry, be serious, I can't watch formulaic pap like that, & I'm disappointed in you.
Still, I can feel an Anita Rani fixation coming on, not Robbie style, but I'm liking what I see & hear.
Did you know she was bred & raised in Bradford, of all places? Done well for a Yorkie, I'd say. Always good to see folks from the developing regions do well.

The stats can't lie can they?
http://www.pokersuperhero.com/best.html
Of course I would much rather come 2nd in the roller than win 3 x £22bh because it's much more about the money for me than the top spot. Anyway it can get all very consuming, I've found myself not wanting to leave the PC and play live which at first wasn't a bad thing but now the missus is getting use to me being at home, hence GUKPT week couldn't have come at a better time. Hopefully you will change your mind im sure there are many people who will welcome you with open arms, celebrity or not.

I had the misfortune to waste many hours of my time reading this pile of poo recently.
It's the Bio of a chap named Bobby Cummines. (Yes, strange spelling).
The premise of the book, & title, was Mr Cummines insistence that he was a businessman, not a gangster.
Call him what you will, but he was a thoroughly nasty piece of work, who used thuggery to further his own ends, & as a result, he spent much time in Prison, from an early age he was a wrong 'un.
Later, he had en epihany, prompted, he claims, by none other than Gangland boss Charlie Richardson, who employed,. amongst others, Mad Frankie Fraser.
So he set up a charity affair named "Unlock", which did much good apparently.
Eventually, he ended up with an OBE of all things.
Now I'm all for people who take a wrong turn in life straightening themselves up, ra ra.
This guy murdered people. Well, he was charged with murder, but got done for manslaughter.
He tells the tale (badly) in his book.
Cliffs - it was a "tie-up". (A robbery of premises where they tie up the occupants). So they tied up two OAP's, & for good measure, gagged them too. At some point, he discharged a shotgun too. Just to frighten them, like.
Unfortunately, the noise was so loud it scared the lady OAP so much she vomited with shock & trauma. And, as she was bound with a tight gag, she choked on her vomit & died.
Cummines describes all this in detail, & justifies it with "we never intended to kill her". At no stage in the book does he utter a word of remorse for her death. "We are in business, people get hurt".
Not sure he deserves an OBE. And the book was just dreadfully written.
Swerve it.
0/10.

Fantastic, well done.
I'm sure you are aware, that site is run by a guy called Rob White, aka "aussie09".
Life has not always been a bowl of roses for Rob, but you'd never know that. We chat a lot one way & another, & I know him very well indeed. He has a lovely lad named George, for whom life is quite challenging. Rob himself, imo, means nothing but good for Sky Poker, though he does not always come across that way.
I can't go into too much detail, but Rob somehow got himself chat banned. So a lot of behind the scenes, under the radar toing & froing went off. Without a bit of exaggeration, I bet over 100 e-Mails went back & forth between Rob, the Business, & me. All parties just quietly got on with sorting it. And, eventually, it all got sorted.
My point being, in my experience, when these things happen, far & away the best method of resolution is under the radar, away from forums, nice & quietly, to avoid all the trolling, mischief makers & shouty-wouty sorts. Honestly, I'm convinced the vast majority of problems the arguments we see on Forums about those sort of matters are best dealt with quietly. It's all about human nature & psychology. IMO, of course.

My current book is this.
Well The Daily Telegraph gave it a right panning.
"....Sentence for sentence, the writing is – to be kind – pretty mediocre....."
"....it is hard to comprehend how such a clumsily written book can have scooped the William Hill Sports Book of the Year award....",
But read on.......
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/culture/books/bookreviews/10487966/Doped-by-Jamie-Reid-review.html
Well I'll tell you this - this is a great, great, book, one of the best I have ever read. Mr Reid may not be Shakespeare, but he tells a spiffing yarn. It's a bit like a non-fiction version of a Dick Francis novel. And if you ever had ant interest in the great trainers & jockeys of the day, well read it, it heavily features Noel Murless, Cecil Boyd Rochfort (who was Henry Cecil's step-dad & mentor), Captain Ryan Price, Piggott, Scobie Breasley & all manner of characters.
Tremendous, unputdownable read.
The author, James Reid, also wrote.......
I've no idea where I could purchase those, & I don't know how to use Amazon, but I most certainly will try & get hold of both. Maybe a trip up to a Horse Racing book specialist in Charing Cross Road is the answer.
How I came to get the book is another story altogether, maybe tomorrow, as I've waffled too much already today. It just came through my letter box one morning, un-prompted or unannounced, sent to me as a gift by a blonde who you all know of. Quite a surprise, & a lovely one at that.
Now, go get that book. You won't regret it, I promise, it's a purler.
Clumsily written, plodding prose
indeed.

Does anyone else think that Anita Lady looks 10 times prettier in the railway photo without make up, than the dancing photo?
