Strange fact about the Pointer Sisters.

Their best-known song, "Fire" was written by Bruce Springsteen. Early in his career, he was better known as a songwriter. "Blinded by the Light (Manfred Mann) and "Because the Night" (Patti Smith) are also his originally.

If there is an afterlife, I so hope the Donald is married to Elon. They deserve each other Wink

Crikey, I well remember Manfred Mann, & once saw them at The Ealing Club, in a basement right opposite Ealing Broadway Station.

Paul Jones was their lead singer at the time though he later moved on. No idea what became of him but he was a very special talent imo.

He starred in Jesus Christ Superstar after leaving The Manfreds

After belatedly Googling I may have got that wrong Huh?

I briefly considered an acting career. And still treasure the advice given to me by Paul Jones (real name Paul Pond).

Important to remember there are a lot more Robert Redfords than Danny De Vitos Smiley

Even more remarkably, Englebert Humperdinck appears here regularly.

He was a 2 hit wonder in the 60's - "(Please) Release Me" & "Last Waltz" & all these years later he's still Touring on the strength of those 2 hits. He was sort of a poor man's Tom Jones.

His current Tour is called "The Last Waltz World Tour", which in various guises has almost certainly been the title of his last 36 world tours.

Age? 88.

Amazing that he still fells the need to work/entertain he must be well loaded. God bless him. Not sure I'd pay a penny piece to go watch him, mind.

OI. Back off.

Engelbert was my late Mothers favourite singer so i have grown up listening to his music.

Certainly not a poor mans Tom Jones.

Manfred Mann played Glastonbury last year.
Their set list was all the stuff you would remember them by.

I my defence the lead singer of Manfred Mann did leave to star in JCSS but it was the guy who replaced Paul Jones - Mike d'Abo

Hi Tony

You lost your phone?  Quite a turnout for Big O, nearly 1,500 already.  Quite a turnout, will get more practice for next time, as now bigger than PLO8 and mixed O8.  Can see you at 268 still, but guess the chip count is as unreliable as ever.

Just for info, I used the monorail today.  It is easy to get to from the Horseshoe end.  The station is just past the gym downstairs.  Don't know about MGM.  Might use it much more if I come back.

Good luck anyone still in.
