I made a shocking play with AK. I made it 1,400 to go, leaving 2,800 behind, & Mr Rockety-Rock behind me, without hesitation, shoved for the lot. I could & should have got off my hand

lol

Yeah i saw this and giggled Grandad. If you knew his hand there should be scorch marks on the table as you call this. Its a thin +EV edge, but its an edge.

Well there were scorch marks Alex, as I called - but with hindsight, I called far too quickly. And, I remain of the view, incorrectly. I can find better spots with 2,800  chips at 200-400 than "thin +EV", I remain convinced.

I don't however, dispute the maths. I just cling stubbornly to the view that it's not always all about Maths.

Well, not scorch marks as such, no. But there was a little leakage I imagine. It's an age thing. Ask Karabiner.

Jeez - I come on here to get away from work during my break - not to be confronted by it.

Ok - sensible question to Tikay.

Having read your recent schedule and sleep deprivation patterns do you think it would be advantagous to your game if you had more sleep - or do you 'work' better on adrenalin? I see all htese signs at DTD saying don't gamble when you are tired and you seem to be constantly so - I just wondered what the thinking was behind that?

That's incorrect. I wear special pants, and they are fit for purpose. And they nearly fit.

It would be advantageous to everything, not just poker, if I slept more. But I have things to do, boxes to tick.

In poker, well yes, I'd not lose concentration so much if I was fresher, nor get so tetchy, which I'm prone to do when tired. But I'm on holiday this week, & will be as fresh as a daisy when I next play, I'm having a complete break from playing Poker until DTD's £300 on Saturday.

Gotta go, am playing the Laddies $250 for the first time in a month, I love this comp. 12 are left, & I'm average chips. Rumours that only 14 started will be strongly refuted.

Thanks Longy. I suppose he could have done the same with AK, I concede that. Not sure about Jacks. Which makes the Pass bad. Just.

No Longy's calcs are slightly out, its a correct call vs AA-QQ. No-one in the world has a tighter range than that in this spot.

Lol whoops your right flushy (damn), it was late thats my excuse and im sticking to it. 1000+1400+4200 of course equals 6600 which makes the call +ev against aa-qq.

OK, I need to put this Mick McCool thing to bed, if this Diary is to have any credibility for what it is - a written reminder of what happens in my little world.

I've had 8 or 9 PM's alerting me to his defamatory Blog comments about myself, Maria (Chili), & blonde generally. I won't detail them here, suffice to say, it's my impession - and I may be wrong - that I won't be getting a Birthday Card from him this year. Half of dtd knew about these comments on Sunday Night, informed, I gather, by him, & these folks kept coming up to me in dtd & asking me if I'd seen them. I had not, & thus could not comnment. But it was a little unsettling when all these folks kept coming up & blowing down my ear -  "have you seen what McCool has said about you?". I could only reply "no, but I played cash with him at Luton last night, we shook hands, & nothing was said then", & wait until I got home to read them. So I continued with my cash-game, a short-handed affair, & we laughed & joked & bought each other drinks all evening, all very civil. "We" being Latif, Ben Vinson (for a while), Fizael, (sp), Latif, &.....Mick McCool. So everything seemed McCool.

I got home & read the comments. In essence, he does not think I'm a terribly nice person (he may have a point), ditto Maria, ditto "the blonde Cult" which had, apparently, started a witchhunt against him.

How did all this start?  No idea! I can only assume it was the Brighton GUKPT Live Update, in which Mick made comments which were seen by most as grossly insulting, and by a few as simply Mick's sense of humour "coming across" badly. For sure, Chili was not spared in his comments, nor were Dana & JungleCat.

After or near the end of the Brighton GUKPT, Mick wrote a rather unpleasant note to my Mods, & there were some insults directed at all of blonde included. It was a carbon-copy of his exchange with us after a Live Update 2 years ago, in which he very rudely savaged a particular player for some reason nobody ever understood, & we asked him to desist. dtd got a dose of the same medicine in early 2007, if you recall.

The chronology of all this is as follows.

Brighton GUKPT

Mick thought the Updates were sub-par, and reacted strongly, laying into the Updaters in particular. I really don't take too kindly to attacks on my Staff, I confess.

A few days later

ChunkyMick put up a brave defence of Mick McCool, because he'd taken some stick after his Brighton Update comments. I never commented, except to say I'd "respond in due course". I met Chunky (who's been a pal for years) in dtd last week, & we chatted amiably about it. This was aided by the fact that Chunky had, perchance, shared a Cash Table with Tighty a few days earlier, & they had covered a lot of the "misunderstandings". Chunky & I agreed that it was perhaps better, in the interest of everyone, not to fan the fire by me responding on his Thread.

Luton, Saturday night.

We bumped into each other, shook hands, & then shared a Cash Table until it broke. There was no mention of any "issue", & no bad blood that I'm aware of.

Sunday Lunchtime

The comments were Posted by Mick on his Blog.

Sunday Night

Most of dtd seemed to have been made aware of the comments. I shared a cash-table with Mick McCol, for some 6 hours. We bought each other drinks, it was entirely cordial & civil, & the Blog Entry, which I had been alerted to, but not seen (thus could not comment upon) was never mentioned by Mick. Interesting then that he should describe me in the terms he did in his Blog, considering he never mentioned the matter face to face.....Gotta love irony.

I intend to write at length about our Updates today or tomorrow, because some people don't "get" them it seems. But they are free-to-view, & I have this sort of view that if you don't like them, well, fine, so be it, just don't read them. And if you don't like blonde, there's no need for a theatrical "I shall never Post here again, you are a bunch of eejits" sort of exchange with my Mods, together with gross personal insults, just stop Posting &, presumably, reading blonde. Quite simple really.

Where do we go from here? Nowhere really. I don't do "Forum Wars", if things need saying, face to face is the man's way. Mr McCool has left blonde, & just in case he changes his mind (again), we've Banned him too, as he's High Maintenance. Mr McCool does not support the Updates via our Cardroom, so we won't lose any revenue. I think Mick will cope without blonde, & I'm sure we'll cope without him.

I am sure Mick & I will see each other around the Cardrooms regularly, & I'm totally fine with that. I'll be civil to him, as always, & judging by his behaviour in Luton & dtd at the weekend, so will he be to me. I have respect for him as a poker player, end of. As individuals, we don't rub along too well, we are polar opposites in fact, but that's the way life is, & we can't all think & act the same way.

Life's too short to go to war, especially at my age.

I hope there will not be a spate of comments on blonde about Mick, for or against, but if there are, so be it. I will not comment provocatively about him, but will defend myself if I'm obliged to.

Which brings us to this weekend's dtd Update, in which we were requested by Mick not to mention his name, as he's taking advice on the protection afforded him by the Data Protection Act. I will deal with that seperately.

Next case.

Sleep glorious sleep        it makes such a huge difference being rested and fresh when sitting at the poker table. My longest session in vegas was under 3 hours whereas on previous trips i played 24 hr sessions. My results in playing lots of short sharp sessions was a vast improvement on a few really long sessions

So, what to do about Mick McCool's request/instruction that we don't mention him on the dtd Live Update this weekend, & the fact that he's investigating the protection affiorded him by the Data Protection Act? Well, the DPA won't help, it's "in the domain", just as anyone can mention that Wayne Rooney played for Man U & scored.

So, we ignore his wishes. Or do we? Do we really want the Update spoilt by these shananigans? It'd be an insult to dtd, & to our readers, to have it spoiled by pettyness. And we are not out to provoke a war, or cause hassle, to anyone, Mick McCool included.

Then again, if we don't mention him by name, the dtd Update - which last month attracted over twice the Traffic that an EPT Update did on the same day - will look a bit odd. We could give him an alias - "Anon" has been suggested - yeah, that'll fool everyone! - or "Mr X" - ditto - or even, Princestyle, TPPFKAMc.

Or imagine this scenario.

"And here at dtd, this is the Final Table Line Up.

Seat 1 - Ironside

Seat 2 - Steve Reid

Seat 3 - Dave Smith

Seat 4- it's a secret....."

See? - it's not that easy.

I'm inclined to leave it to the Updaters to decide. If I were doing the Update, I'd just refer to him by name, and I'm sure, after he's reflected on the whole affair, he'll be fine with that. But I'm not doing the Update, & I can't subject our Staff to potential hassle & aggro. So I'll leave them to decide, & I'll back them up, however they decide to handle it.

All rather surreal, this. Who'd run a Forum, & provide Free Updates, only to be subjected to all this nonsense? We must be mad. Still, on the Upside, I've made so many good friends via blonde, so overall, it's +EV.

Let's hope common-sense prevails, & we can all move on. Mick said tonight that he'd be wearing a blonde shirt on Saturday, & if he does, we offer him our thanks.

OK, bed awaits, & I hope this silliness can all be laid to rest now. Honest 'injun.
