Also why is it that in poker your verbal declaration is binding on every street, but not at showdown. In Compo's hand he declares "Aces" at showdown, but is not held to that declaration, whereas on other streets any declaration is binding whether it is a mistake or not.
Its not when referring to your hand strength, quite the opposite. If you tell someone your exact hand down the streets its dead. You can say anything apart from your true holding, which is a farce imo.
That's not the ruling everywhere.
Quote
The only time you can reveal your true hand is at showdown.
Like Jim said cards speak.
Where can you tell someone your exact hand during the hand playing out?
nowhere in the real world, but luton is excluded from the norm it seems.
Vegas you can
pretty sure Equal Chance allow this too. If my memory serves correctly, it was one of the 'house rules' they announced before the start of the £20k the other week.

Home, Derbyshire, Tuesday.
Two days off, & I need them, I do the Show in Thursday & that's it for the week, & I'm looking forward to the 3-2-1 get-together immensely. They are like mini-blonde Bashes, & I love to see the blondes all together, having a good time.
I've had more grief than you'll ever know BTS in blonde (some stuff has to stay off here, decorum & all that), but I've had enormous plasure, too. On Sunday, in DTD, sharing a table, were Karabiner, Ding, Compo & boldie, & for reasons I can't (just not able, can't find the words) articulate, it gave me so much pleasure. Whatever happens, blonde has made good friendships that otherwise would not have happened, & that pleases me no end.
On an odd note, Michael Greco was at DTD on Sunday, & I shared a Cash-Table with him. I've not seen him for best part of a year, we move in very different circles. Then, on Monday morning, driving down to Feltham, I sttoppd to grab a Coffee on the Northampton Services, & bumped into him at the counter. Weird.
I planned to stay in tonight, but I've decided to go down to DTD & play their £50 + £50 + £50. I'm a bit "short" with the goings on in blonde this last day or two, & it'd be better if I go out. Everyone seems to want to cause needless trouble, deliberately, & it baffles me. A 3 year old Post got bumped for whatever reason, & it ended up with Neil Channing & I wasting half-hour of each others time, explaining that it was an old Post, & not relevant. Oh how we both laughed.
I badly worded something whilst trying to Large up Tracey's Luton Cash - I called it a "DTD-style Chop" - & everyone got on my case, & it'll take me hours to settle that one down. I spoke to Flushy today, as mischievous as ever, we had a laugh about it, & at least he knows what I meant (in truth, EVERYONE knows what I meant) - that DTD do it a particular way, & no other Venue does it that way, but it's being twisted about by the world & his wife. Folks must be spending hours trawling through my Posts to catch me out. And the whole point of the thread got forgotten. FFS..... Even my very good friend AlrightJack chimed in, a man who I've publically revered for his efforts to better Tourney Poker in the UK, & who knows I large up Grosvenor more than anyone else does. It's prickly day, methinks. Maybe it's me out of step, & not the others.
Then that "retard" thread started, & that hacked me off, what WAS the point of it? There'd been some grief, we sorted it, quietly & quickly, next case, but it got dragged up again.
But Byronic Acid's Post absolutely winded me, it really did. He & I meet from time to time at Live Events, & we get on famously, & he's a solid blonde. I happened to mention that I don't like the word "retard" being used as a personal insult, &, lo & behold, within minutes, he's searched through my Posts & found that I'd used the expression "RunBadLagTards" a while back, which, I now gather, means the same thing, or I now assume it does. I can handle his reply easy enough - I simply apologised, genuinely - but I was just astonished at the lengths some go to try try & trip others up. Sometimes, you know, what you see is what you get.
What a strange world this internet is, & how sad that the emphasis these days is so much on so easy to do "na-nana-na" negativety, & not much of the slightly more difficult creativity.
A Post I shall regret making, but I'm gonna press the "POST" Button anyway.
Have a good night, see you tomorrow, when I'll try & put the "DTD-style" thing to bed, also the Equal Chance thread, & the retard thread, and the......
I do hope I've not offended anyone, that's not my style.

There are so many responses to this and I'm unable to verbalise any of them well.

I was well surprised to see you use the word tard after you have said you don't like the word in the past. I only used the search function as it was the easiest way to find the post whilst 8 tabling on your poker site. Sorry to wind you up.

Tikay closely re-reads his post one last time before posting it to avoid any possibility of being misunderstood.

I've been a little angry of late as my best pal was punched outside my local 2 Saturdays back, the scan returned negative brain activity and his body passed away 3 days later.
Looking back through my posts since then i see a pattern of spite, i can only appologise.
Sorry all, i know at least one other member experienced the exact same thing, i only just realise.....

Now he's not in Eastenders I guess he needs another form of income, the family restaurant in Albert Square will have given him plenty of chance to make a good latte.

Say what you will about certain threads on this forum, but this one always seems to bring the best out in ppl.

Im really sorry to hear that mate, as you know the same thing happened to a good friend of mine and I was also guilty of posting in a simialr vein towards you. Its a dreadful thing to happen and my heart goes out to you, his family and his close friends.
