. I'm certainly not convinced that cannabis necessarily leads to more harmful drugs

Resident Dutch guy to the rescue. It has actually been proven that in a normal situation the use of soft-drugs (Like cannabis) does NOT lead to the use of hard-drugs. However, when cannabis is illegal it puts you in touch with some people that you probably don't want to be in touch with..and THAT makes the use of hard drugs more likely.

I used to frequent a coffeeshop regularly and EVERYONE there knew not to mess with hard drugs..and you'd never consider it simply because you're not put in that sort of environment.
The hard drugs problem in the UK is massive compared to what it is in Holland..Cannabis being illegal is definitely one of the reasons for this.

all of the obove is true but is there a junkie on the planet who hasnt smoked a joint before? if youve never smoked a joint theres no chance of you ever taking smack or coke etc....as for the drugs prob in holland compared to the uk id say the reason theres not so much of a problem there is all the stuff is gettin shipped over here for us to take! lol

Milk's the problem.  I bet EVERY junkie has drunk some milk before moving on to class A drugs.  Ban the cows.

70% of the world don't drink milk. whether or not it is good for you is an interesting subject but unfortunately there doesn't seem to be a conclusive answer

I've stopped drinking milk (still have a drop in my tea from time to time, but I've cut out drinking lots of it) and I feel better for it.  Humans are the only mammals that drink milk after infanthood, and are also the only ones to drink the milk of other species.

What kind of fuckery is this?

Nature has made cannabis enjoyable to consume. Because nature is clever like that. If an animal eats a cannabis plant and gets a nice buzz off it, it will will surely return to eat more, and the whole process of reproduction will be much easier.

When humans discover something that is desirable to consume they will undoubtedly consume. But people have been blessed with logic and are at liberty to draw boundaries. And I think allowing individuals the right to govern themselves like this is quite important.

Chocolate cake is enjoyable to consume. If you have no self-discipline and eat too many slices you will get very fat. But it's not the cakes fault you're fat, it's your fault. Just because you have one slice of cake it doesn't necessarily mean you are doomed to obesity, or that you will inevitably move onto lemon meringues. Millions of people have the odd slice of cake but still remain slim and contribute to society. Drugs only become addictive if you have no boundaries and that's not the drugs fault, it's your fault.

I think that if drugs didn't exist people who live with no boundaries would find their downfall elsewhere, whether that be gambling, eating, drinking or whatever. Excessive anything is bad. But I think people should be allowed to consume a natural product if they so wish and for a government to say tobacco is ok and cannabis is not is quite potty (if you'll pardon the pun) imo.

I in no way condone the taking of drugs.

I smoked (puffed) daily for 15 years and never once did i ever feel the need or urge to take any other type of drug, the notion that smokin leads to harder drugs is dependnt on the person and not the drugs.IMO

No Diary Entries today I'm afraid. Been "diverted" like you would not believe.

I tend to keep pretty calm, but jeez......
