Down to 5k, I need to move now, & found a spot quite soon, at 100-200 (RA 25), when it went Limp, Limp, Alan Strearn makes it 800, & there is an all-in man behind me. I have A-J. My stack is an awkward size, so I decide to jam, & Alan will let go, I'm pretty sure of that.
But Alan had A-K, so made the perfectly standard & correct Call, whilst the All-In Man Tabled J-J.
Way to go, get your money in as a 96% dog.
Today we will mainly be a genuine Nit, just grinding. No moves, no nothing.
This hand really confused me Tikay.
You didn't actually shove, you raised to about 2600 then called Alan's shove.
First thing that confused me was you somehow managing to get 25 bbs in the middle with AJ.
The other thing was that when Alan shoved you had a look of anguish on your face like you should pass. You then said "I think I have to call" and Alan turned over his AK.
Did you really want to call or did you just do it because Alan had already showed his cards so you felt obliged?
It all looked very strange to me.
Nooooooooooooooo!
Alan was supposed to Pass.
I was not that aware he showed his hand prior to me calling - in fact, I'm sure he did not.
But the thought of losing a L-L to you traumatised me. Never lost one before. And then I lose one to you, of all people.
The reality - as to the Tourney - was that I pushed way too soon.

He might've just said it then and you didn't hear because you shocked at the thought of losing a L-L to me.
We need to discuss your raise sizes as well. Paying 700 out of a 7k stack at the 200 level to pass to a reraise is way too much.
500 to 550 achieves exactly the same result.

I assumed the hand didn't happen and tikay was trying to level us here tbh. I'm amazed it's real, it was the bit where he has to make a move with 25BB that I just couldn't believe

Get it right, boyz!
I had 5k-ish. Blinds were 100-200, It went limp, limp, then Alan made it 800. There is now 1,500 in the middle.
So, what do you do now, if you think you can get Alan off his hand?........
Next time I shall wait a while longer before shoving. A long while longer.

Danny La Rue died last night - he was over 80, apparently.
He was, sort of, a "phenomonon", in that his TV & Stage Shows were massively popular, but it was this that first caused me to question the value of so-called "Light Entertainment", which is that dreadful stuff which fills TV screens on Saturday nights.
But why was he popular? He was not a comedian, he has a poor singer, by any standards, & a so-so dancer. He was popular because he dressed up & made up - superbly, magnificently, wonderfully, - in Ladies clothes. Nobody did that better, but credit surely goes to Wardrobe, & Make-Up for that. A very odd thing, that he was lionised so, because I was not sure what we were supposed to admire in his act, or whether we should laugh, or go "ooooh".
But he exploited whatever it was incredibly well, & became very wealthy I imagine.
He was a HUGE Star back in the day.
May he RIP.

As Evil seemed to have a very different recollection of this to me, I checked it out last night with 4 of the players on the Table, fearing I had brain-fade or something. My recollection was correct.
Alan
Stearn
NEVER exposed his hand, and my Bet was "all-in". So it went 200, 200, Raise to 800, & I jammed my 5k-ish, because I reasoned could not Pass to a RR given my stack size after I'd invested a standard Raise.
"User error" to push so early, should have just Passed & awaited a better spot.

Luton tonight? Highly unlikely, methinks. Can't even find out for sure what the Comp is. Still dithering though. Will engage in further ditherage, then decide.

The website, allegedly, states is the "old" £50 + £50 + £50. If it were the "new" Freezeout I'd prob come along, I fancy some of that, but I rung the Casino & they said they did not know. If only every Cardroom was even 5% as organized as

A bad day now climaxed by news of the daeth of one of my great racing heroes, Vincent O'Brien.
He must of been over 80, and was a genuine Legend.
Nobody had a better eye for a yearling, foal or filly-foal, & he somehow found all the best Northern Dancer progeny.
His relationship with Lester was worth a book in itself, very up & down, but they scooped a Classic or two between them.
His time at the top coincided exactly with the period I was into Turf matters, breeding especially, and he reigned in a golden era on the Turf. His contemporaries included Peter Walwyn, Henry Cecil, Major Hern, Murless, Balding, & so many other extraordinary Trainers. Daughter Sue married John Magnier, another stand-alone story in waiting.
He excelled both in NH, & Flat, & I doubt a bigger name graced the Turf in my time.
I absolutely idolised him.
This is very sad.
It will be a glum Derby this weekend.

Just nipped over to my local shop for a packet of cigarettes and some High School Musical stickers. Whilst waiting to be served I spotted a packet of Jack Link's premium cuts Original Beef Jerky and added it to my shopping. I'll post a review when I've scoffed it.
